Well my camera of recent has met it's end. Yes my 'Nikon Coolpix 3700' has met an untimely demise. It has served me well through the years and the least I can do is relate its final day(s).
So here is the full story: Out tree-planting we have a 'wine tasting festival', and at this event there are a few ppl who drink a bit too much and have difficulty making it back to their tents. Being the kind gentleman that I am, I help them in their time of need. Many of these ppl had tents on the other side of a creek that we had built a bridge over. And while escorting one of these fine folk over the creek, he tripped, I saved him from falling in, but in the process my camera came out of my pocket and landing with a great splash in the creek. I rescued it and let it dry out for the next few days only to be greeted by a white screen and red letters declaring a 'lens error'.
I contacted Nikon in the hopes that it would not be too expensive to repair. But it is a flat rate of over $200 for a lens repair, and who knows if it is the only thing wrong with it. So I have deemed that my camera shall exist solely as a shelf ornament now (or perhaps a paperweight).
On a brigher note I shall be replacing it with a new camera. I have thoroughly researched digital cameras for the past few days and have decided that for what I want in a camera the 'Canon S2 IS' is the perfect camera. It is the perfect compromise between a compact and DSLR. Feel free to check it out here

Return from the wild

or perhaps I should have titled it return to the wild (civilization, so backwards)
So being as I just returned from treeplanting I figured I could show you guys a pic or two of my time out there.
Only you can prevent forest fires (and no he did not start that one.)
It's me (and I lost my shaver and hair scissors.)
Relaxing in the creek in my inflatable dingy. (the beer is a 'sleemans' and the book is 'men of bronze')
We had a wine tasting festival need I say more. (I brought the painted turtle)
This is what a cutblock looks like.
Slideshow: smaller pictures but all in one place.
Those a just a few of my pictures from my time spent out in the bush this summer, it was a good summer and I am looking forward to spending August doing nothing productive (that beach is looking real nice right now). That is unless some lucrative offer swings my way. But come september I shall finally be going to college (i graduated in 03), so I shall see how that goes. (because apparently in college you actually have to pay attention, or so I am told)

Work and Life

So I was working as a Zamboni operator this winter, but as winter is now over (too warm for outdoor ice rinks) I am working electrical with my dad again for the next month.
After that I am off to go treeplanting again for the summer (4th summer) This year I will be a First-Aid attendant and will drive one of the company trucks too and from the cut-blocks everyday. Which means I will get money just for rolling out of bed everyday.

I have never used this journal so far, but I figured that I had may as well. I was feeling a little ambitious to see if I still had the skills to make things in photshop this evening and evidence that i just made a simple sig and it only took me an hour, I feel as though it could come back. now if only i could get things to move, how do i do that?
And when is the TSEGL going to back online?
