Lion King!!! Man I forgot about that game. When I was younger my sister, cousin , and myself would sit in the patio room and just have a blast trying to beat that game. So many rainy days were spent this way lol.

Totally, it was a great game. I recently beat it again. My only gripe is swinging on the elephants tails was kind of glitchy, which made that part of the game frustraiting. It's definitely a solid platformer. BTW, for Mario fans, you must try Mario World X. I think that is the name. It has super hard levels for hard core Mario players. It comes with 3 worlds that are well designed. Also there are many user levels you can play, and, get this, it comes with a easy to learn level editor that allows you to make complex Mario Worlds/levels. It's really good, and free.
More 2D goodness.
Genesis
Alien Soldier
Alisia Dragoon
Chakan the Forever Man (Holyturd it's hard, but great controls)
Comix Zone (More of an action game like Ninja Warriors)
Gargoyels
Mega Turrican (Mix between Metriod and Contra and Bionic Commando)
Pulseman like Sonic and MegaMan mix)
Rocket Knight Adventures
Shadow Dancer
Sonic games of course
Sparkster
Strider 1 and 2
Valis 3
Vector Man
Xmen 2: Clone Wars (The last level is annoyingly hard. Takes lots of patients)
GBA
Castlevania Aria of Sorrow (You must play this game, period)
Dragonball Advance Adventure
Jazz Jack Rabbit (Okay)
Kim Possible 2 (2 is awesome. 3 is okay)
Drill Dozer
Ninja Five 0
One Piece
Samurai Jack: The Amulet of Time
Astro Boy (More action than platforming)
Gunstar Super Heroes
Klonoa
Lady Sia
Metroid Fusion and Zero Mision
Naruto Ninja Council
Scorpion King
Zeldo the Minish cap (I know not a platformer, but rad)
Snes
Act Raiser (Partly platformer, partly, I don't know what)
Earthworm Jim
Hagane
Kirby
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Super Star Wars Super Metroid
Oh, yeah, Donkey Kong on Snes. You are right; that was a great game. It had mind blowing graphics for the time. It looks as good as many 2D games on the 64 and PS1.
I thought it was far better than any Mario game.
Aladin on Genesis is nice.
I guess I'm more of an action platformer, because I prefer games like Hagane and Shinobi 3, but some Mario games are pretty fun. Rayman was good. I did enjoy the Splosion Man demo, but I don't know if it is worth the asking price.
Lion King, Jungle book are some other good ones. Lion King is actually pretty challanging with solid controls.
They just don't make them like they used to. Megaman is still strong, though.
Oh, the Indie platformer I was talking about is called SuperCow. It is at least worth checking out the demo, but I didn't find it to my liking.
I love Halo 3 single player, but I just couldn't get into the multiplayer. I just don't like how you have to play. It is too hard to kill someone. You can be blasting them in the friggin face, like many times, and they live and kill you. It's crap.
If there was a realistic mode, I would enjoy it. A shot in the face kills you.
I hate having to nade, then shoot just to kill someone. Or shot, shot, shot, then bash there face. You can take way too much damage. And if there is lag, forget it. No fun at all. I tried really hard to get into it, but nah, it's not for me.
Call of Duty. Rainbow. Gears.
Can you close this one? It gave me an error and said it never posted, and I just saw that it actually did, after I made the second better version. Sorry for the trouble.
New or old.
I love them. Can't get enough of them, thus why I'm making my own Ninja Chick game with gameplay I want in a 2D platformer.
Name the ones you enjoyed most, whether on Genesis, GBA, SNES, Xbox live Indie (I really want to know good ones here), or Xbox Arcade. I am all for supporting the Indie section. I have purchased a few games there so far.
I'll start.
Shinobi 3
Megaman series
Mario (I guess. I'm not a big fan)
Kim Possible 2 (GBA. This game rocks. Not part 1 or 3, but 2. It is the only good one in the series. It is a gem, honestly.)
Hagane (This game was so beyond it's time. So many awsome moves and the game forces you to use them. Great and hard game, but not too hard.)
Contra (Pretty much any one)
Metal Slug
The cow game in the indie section looked promosing, but the demo was kinda boring, so I didn't buy it.
Can you name any good platformers in the indie section?
Old or new, it doesn't matter.
Would you like to see more 2D platformers, good ones, in the Indie section?
Games like Shinobi 3, Kim Possible 2 (great game BTW), Megan Man (pretty much anyone).
I love 2D platformers and can't get enough of them, thus why I am making one that has the gameplay I want. :)
Name some of the best 2D platformers, whether new or old. GBA, Genesis, SNES, Xbox live Indie or Arcade.
I love both games, but 2 is worth the extra money because it offers much more gameplay. Each of the six games is very different and can keep you playing for a long time.
If you like Geometry wars, you absolutely must try the free Biology Battle demo in the indie section. I think it is only 230 points or something like that if you want to buy it. It is one of the best games on Live, no joke. I enjoy it just as much as Geometry Wars. It also hasmany cool multiplayer options, but there is never anyone online, so you have to play with someone in the house, but that's cool, because there is no split screen. You see the whole screen.
