My Countdown to Resident Evil 5

Chris and Sheva

In about 9 to 10 days all the rumors, theories and hype will be out the window. The disc's will be spinning in consoles all over the world and true fans of the series will be locked in electronic bliss - I will be one of those fans. I am waiting is anxious anticipation. The DEMO is fun, I am kicking the tails of both boss, like an after school is over bully. The DEMO makes me want more, much more and I hope CAPCOM delivers. If the DEMO is only a taste of what is yet to come then this game will be awesome. If you are a fan of shooters you may find this game to be very fustrating, but if you are a TRUE fan of the series you find the game very intense and a little scary in a way. Let's see, I'll stay sharp by playing the DEMO until the night before the is released, then I will take all my frustration in waiting for the game out on the approaching horde of infected folks and their big boss counterparts. The only other aspect of the game I am waiting to see unfold is the storyline and whether or not that is Jill Valentine under that hood that Wesker is slowly pulling off.....We'll see.

Reminiscing about 2008 and beyond

new year image

A new year is upon us and as we reminisce about the year gone by we smile about the good things, laugh at what was funny and become serious abut the things that were gloomy. That's life, but what about the games, the games we all thought were going to be hot and they were not. As I look at my game library, I think of the time spent playing and enjoying, I only keep games that played well, made me think and looked awesome. A story line is good, but that's just the icing on the cake.

I must say that I was truly happy with every game I bought 11 games this year and traded away 3 of them for better games. Especially those games I beat within 2 to 3 days after I purchased it. All in all it was a very good year. Let's hope the upcoming year brings prosperity to world as a whole, so we all may live better and game harder. Hopefully, the games coming in 2009 will blow our collective socks off. Its going to be very interesting.

Happy New Year Everyone. 8)

Final Exams are here!!

It's official the end of the semester is tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 10) and I happy to see it come to a close but now there is the issue of "FINAL EXAMS". I have been keeping up all semester and Linear Algebra was kind of intense. Luckily for me my history professor gave us a take home final, its due Friday, Dec. 12, by midnight, but I actually finished it yesterday and e-mailed to her. One down 3 to go. Next week I have physics Monday, linear algebra, Wednesday and fundamental of CS II Thursday.

Wish me luck.

Are you ready for the holidays?

Happy Eeeverything

Are you ready for the holiday season. Well, whether you are ready or not it's here. Even though is started out with a tragedy - Walmart trampling, India bombing, we still have to keep our collective heads up and keep it moving. The smaller children are sort of happy and giddy, and the good ones are going to be extra good, for goodness sake. Even the lovely ladies are a little extra nice, I guess they are looking for that special gift under the tree Christmas morning.

You'll hear Christmas music every you go from now till New Years, so get u sed to it. For those of us who get depressed, play video games, a new one if you have to, but get your minds off the blues and get into the spirit.

I have e-mailed my wish list to several parties hopefully at least two or three of them will get me one item from each list, hopefully a game or two. So don your gay apparel, the holiday season is here.

;)

Hope you have deep pockets, gamers!

With the holiday season just around the corner the list of games coming out over hte next 6 weeks will definately put a virtual hole in your pocket/budget. There has to be at least 6 games I and a lot of other gamers have in mind. Lets see there is:

  1. Resistance 2
  2. EndWar
  3. Gears of War 2

The above 3 games are a short list of all the games released this week alone. If you own more than one console you are going to have to make some tough decisions on your game selections. For those gamers with disposable income, invest wisely, and for those on a strict budget, I hope you have a birthday between now and the holidays, may be you can work out a good deal and get a couple of games. Meanwhile, those of us not so lucky have to hope they have been good enough this year so Santa may present them with an awesome title for Christmas morning (**crossing my fingers**).

So are you ready to dig deep?

Wall St. Bail Out or Hand Out?

Tell me folks are we really as stupid as the folks on Wall St. think we are. Will congress give 750 Billion dollars to companies who want to reward the Executives for leading their companies into bankruptcy, while middle class Americans are losing houses everyday. The one thing I learned in economics class is that businesses fail everyday. I don't see the government coming to their rescue. I worked for two companies that went bankrupt, I didn't;t cry I just went and found another job. I am stll under-employed, haven't had a vacation in 7 years, but I am surviving. Where was the government when the companies I worked for bottomed out.

Now they want to hold the American taxpayer economically hostage. If we don;t save them there will be more lay-offs, higher prices and more homes lost. along with farmers not being able to borrow at a low rate.

Before they get one penny the whole financial system need to be fully investigated, someone mis-appropriated funds. Too many execs living high on the hog, not sharing the wealth parties and whore hopping. If I had to give them anything it would be just enough to get by, that's how I have been doing it, so why can't they do it, too. Each and every penny should be accounted for, tax auditors should be stationed at each company counting everything that comes in and goes out and for what reason it is going in and out (no pun intended). The big execs need to start working at McDonald's and car washes, to see what real work is all about. they need to miss vacation for a few years to understand the true value of a dollar, they need to see what it is like to struggle each and everyday. Now those of us who pay taxes have to foot the bill.

Enough is Enough

Unmarketable Events

We've all seen and heard the news about Lehman and Merrill Lynch going bankrupt. It appears greed leaves very few survivors. If the windows in these establishments could open, the streets would be littered with the dead and dying who sought the easy way out by taking a nose dive out on the boulevard below. It seems the real-estate market is effecting more than the home buyer or the financiers (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac).

AIG is another one about to bite the dust, but the US government is about to bail them out, too. I say let them fail, many businesses do everyday, and since the US government is in the mood to give away money I could use a measly $10 million a lot cheaper than AIG's $85 Billion.

What will be the impact on the gaming industry, probably none, may be those franchises that had investment in Lehman will be sweating it out over the next few days, and hopefully they didn't put all their eggs in one basket. We'll see what happens in the very near future. Keep gaming.

GamePro Magazine - Not so Good

I first subscribed to GamePro during the 8bit era of gaming. It had informative, detailed reviews. It had strategy guides for the most popular games, heck I got my Mortal Kombat moves from GP. They had a section where they reviewed and previewed sports games, and last but not least the notorious cheat codes in the back of the magazine.
Now we get big pictures, some with lame 10 word descriptions. the reviews are good, but not like back in the day. What happened to reviewing sports. The strategy guide for GTAIV was lame, only stating the obvious and I am still waiting for a stratey guide for MGS4 which was not in the mag I got. If you call that a guide then America we are in serious trouble. An We now live in the age where you pay more and get less, it's highway robbery. The reason I may seem angry is that I recently renewed my subscription after a good amount of years and I am disappointed to say the least.

Hurricane Gustav

We know about the hurricane that is approaching the Gulf coast of the US. Hopefully the storm doesn't have the effect that Katrina did in New Orleans and other regions. They are starting to evacuate the entire region in anticipation of this horrific storm and my heart goes out to all in that region and their relatives else where worrying about their loved ones.

The gamers probably don't have gaming on their minds or may be they do, and are frustrated that they do not possess the leisure time to play. If you have an hand held portable device you may survive until your next recharge, which might not be immediate, so hopefully the are be conservative with their usage of these devices.

Let's hope the storm ends without anything major occurring, with minimal to no loss of love or property.
