I wish they'd redo every arcade game in HD

TheOwnerOner

Forget about HD, that's just an increase in resolution, so if you've ever played those arcade games on a PC you know what "retro HD gaming" already is.

What they should do is revamp all those old arcade games with next gen production values and offer that ALONG WITH the original game on XBLA.

[QUOTE="TheOwnerOner"]

I never played this version,

It actually looks pretty good.

If by 'good' you mean 'hard as hell' then I agree with you. The original was sooooooo unforgiving. I hope they altered the difficulty, bc if not this game is going to be tttp (too tough to play.)

They did.

"IGN: The original POP was really difficult. Are you adjusting the difficulty level or creating a more forgiving checkpoint system?

Boiteau: It's true that players had a really hard time to beat the original POP! To soften this a bit, we've included checkpoints, improved controls and added moves such as the last minute grab which helps avoid death caused by one wrong move."

Sony claims to have shipped 6 million units. If they sold that many thru to consumers, it wouldn't change a thing except give them momentum. So, currently, they have 6 million that were produced at $X amount (best guesses where around ~$800). Now, those sales are already out the door. Sony has already sold those to retailers and have already taken the loss on the units.

So stop crying about Sony "deliberately NOT wanting to sell that many consoles". The fact is that HAVE sold many consoles to retailers, and wanted to sell a HELL of a lot more, but consumer apathy is killing sell-through figures (e.g. Sony shipped over 1 million PS3s in Japan since late December, yet after the initial week of high sales, 1 million STILL haven't been sold to consumers yet).

obviously theyre havin losses...every console manufacturer losses thee first few years while sellin their console but in the long-run they win soo much more profit

MSE369

First off, not everyone starts off with losses (namely Nintendo). Second, no one has losses THIS BIG. Sony's losses in 6 months are half of what the original Xbox lost in FOUR YEARS.

Spin somewhere else.

To have a long term plan in this business you have to have short term victory...

The reason the PS1 and PS2 were supported long past the standard 5 year cycle was because they were the UNDISPUTED MARKET LEADERS. By the time the cycle ended they were in a good position so Sony could continue to support them.

The PS3 on the other hand is getting its tail kicked in Japan by Nintendo, by Microsoft in the U.S., and by BOTH in Europe (weekly sales over there have now dropped to around 12000 a week).

The fact is, if your console fails in the first year or 2, devs and consumers will in fact move on. It's what happened to the Gamecube even though Nintendo made profit off it from the jump. Because it didn't grab anyonefrom the get go.

So sorry cows, but all your preemptive damage control (before Thursday's devastating NPD sales) fails due to a lack of logic and forethought.

It has so much content and many features, all working flawlessly together. The devil is in the details. PSN is barebones in comparison.

Why spend $600 for crap?
