It's a bit of a hike, luckily i topped up until 2019 so i'm all good for now. And no justification for it either.

Loved the GameCube, however i believe it's down to the lack of online the system offered. Yes, it had modem adaptors (broadband and 56k). But it never followed up with it after Phantasy Star Online. If Nintendo put online play into Mario Kart and Smash, it would have been a winner. Sony started introducing online play with the PS2, Xbox introduced Xbox Live. Nintendo didn't keep up with the trend. 3rd party games didn't come to the system due to sales lacking, heck Nintendo had so many GameCube's built they stopped production until stock levels reduced.
The controller was one of the best i've ever used, without a doubt. The question, is the GameCube underappreciated?. I'd say no. It had an impressive library of games in Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, F-Zero GX and Resident Evil 0 to name a few. Did Rare's sale from Nintendo cause people to not buy a system, probably yes.
I'd say so. In fact, now is a perfect time to get a 3DS. With games mentioned above as great purchases, it's got a fantastic library ready for picking through.
I still have a soft spot for Nintendo, even though most of my gaming is on the PS4 these days. It's always the same, i have a WiiU and a PS4 and my WiiU is negleted. Whereas my 3DS isn't as it's portable, and theres lots to play on it.
The 3DS is still a profitable system for Nintendo, until the Switch is readily available everywhere for everyone, i can see them continuing to support the 3DS/2DS. Heck, i still use mine daily and will do for ages. I'd have jumped on the Switch bandwagon, but i can't justify a purchase for a system with only 1, maybe 2 games i'm interested in upon it.
First experience of gaming, it was on a Grandstand system my Dad had. It played Space Invaders, so that was addictive.
Out of all the consoles i owned over the years, here's my favorite game from each.
Gameboy: Tetris
NES: Super Mario Brothers 3
Gameboy Color: Crazy Castle
Mega Drive: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 + Knuckles
N64: Majora's Mask
Gamecube: Wind Waker
Gameboy Advance: Metroid Fusion
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Xbox 360: Gears of War 2
DS: Super Mario 64 DS
3DS: Kirby's Triple Deluxe
PlayStation 4: Uncharted 4
Vita: Tearaway
WiiU: Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers
£35 maximum. When i was using the Xbox 360, i paid at most £30 a year. Didn't really feel i was getting a lot for my money with this, felt a bit ripped off that in order to watch Netflix and NBA (which i subbed for), i had to pay further to access Xbox Live. It changed in it's latter years to include a free game or two (once they cut the paywall to accessing Netflix.
PSN, i've never paid above £33. With it's new rise now, i topped up another year to 2019. Already snapped up a 2nd year through the E3 sales. I quite like PSN, because i have a Vita it's about 4 games a month on average i would get (more 4 in 2013/14, now it's more 2 as a lot i've already got. But it's still worth it, especially when you can get approximately £40 worth of games out of it.
When Sony said PS+ was required for online play in 2013, it didn't bother me as i paid for Xbox Live before so was used to paying for online access. With it going to £50 a year now, unless it's something Sony have in mind to improve the service, even i find £50 hard to swallow.
It won't work as intended on the PS4 due to not allowing outside of game items. Paid mods is a stupid idea anyway.
