I had mixed feelings with the PS1 and N64 when they were out. The graphics often did look less appealing simply because the last generation of 2-D games where decades into that technology and the switch to 3-D was with a new technology that was in its most primative form. Even still though there where many games that came out that couldn't have been done the same or at all had it not been for their 3-D graphics.

It's because of the games condition combined with the fact that it is factory sealed. Its most likely not going to be played by the person who buys it. They are more likely a collector who will store and/or display it with the rest of their collection.

If all else fails I would just exchange it. You don't have worry to much as long as you keep your reciept.

Component is definately the way to go, especially if you have an HDTV. As I understand it the official Sony cables or the Monster Cables are your best bet.

I've been wowed in different ways over time. I think storywise it was when I first played through the PC adventure game The Pandora Directive. At that point the multiple branching paths and depth of character and it length, let alone fun, really amazed me. I agree with another poster on Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. The graphics Rare was able to create in that game on a 16-bit system was unreal. I know I'm probably leaving out a lot of others buts its always interesting how moments like that define your gaming experience from then on in some way.

I don't know if this is old news but coming from a comic book background that now has CGC grading it seems like a big step for the collecting market to me. I was reading over at Kotaku.com that a company called Video Game Authority is now grading and encapsulating games for a $25 fee. Anyone have any more info on this or how reputable the company is (link and pic below).

Internet sites like Amazon still have some games but you might want to check out your local stores when you're shopping as they are almost nonexistant on shelves now but can be had for cheap if you come across some games in a store that doesn't get a lot of traffic. There is always ebay too. Good luck its an underappreciated system and there is plenty of fun to be had from the titles it had.

A PSP system for the price of a game seems like a good deal to me.
