I think I like this game more than DS1. Whenever I started a new playthrough I would sometimes lose interest after O&S. The second half of the game was far less spectacular than the first. I felt like the flow of DS2 and the open exploration from the get-go was a big plus in my book. The HP death penalty always kept me on edge and constantly thinking about my build and how to improve/adapt to the next challenge. Overall I think the bosses may be slightly easier but the zones are just as difficult if you kill whatever is in your way rather than running passed everything.
I like the idea of the hub area. Majula is what Firelink Shrine almost was. The world overall is just as rich and well realized as the first game. Forest of Fallen Giants is a great "intro zone" with so many branches to it. I could go on and on about what I liked. There are very few drawbacks or weak/tacked-on areas and I started a second character right after finishing the game the first time. That is the mark of a truly great game.
Q: Can you speak to the ability to refill spells for sorcery users without resting at a bonfire? When leveling in Dark Souls it was somewhat difficult for magic users early because of the limited spell use.
@Thanatos2k If this game got a 10 and the meta was around 79 then you'd have a point but an 87/100 and a 90/100 are pretty close. Seems like the gaming community reviews from publications/sites are trending toward a high 80's low 90s score. Gametrailers gave it a 9.3 and they're pretty solid when it comes to reviews (my opinion). So it's either a mass payoff, which I don't buy. or....
I'm absolutely fed up with the vitriol that the opposite console fanboys spew about paid reviews. Is it possible that the game is actually a solid shooter with new and exciting twist on a somewhat tired genre?
@Vinnvn What does that even mean? On a scale of 100 one says 88 and the other 90. it's the same score. The score you are seeing is based in large part on the reviewer and his/her impression of the game based on things that many of us don't even think about when playing a game. This is an arbitrary process and you can't judge a website based on which review you think was better because you think a game deserves a certain score. You also haven't played the game so it's impossible to judge.
@shreddyz Furthermore...it is evident by Jonny's comments alone that he has questioned whether or not the mere existence of feedbackula has caused a coworker of his some pain. He is being human. He is on the right side of the argument.
@shreddyz I think the public in general, especially people who post on this site, are desensitized to vulgar words and in previous feedbackulas they are attached to idiotic complaining. That's not what anyone is up in arms about and that is not how they were used here.
These attacks were different and I'm sure you can ascertain the difference.
If you aren't somewhat disturbed by the littany of over-the-top attacks on the reviewer which pointed toward her sexuality etc then that is part of the problem.
