@shreddyz "Dumb" is different than outright insulting, offensive and insensitive.

Jon nailed the overarching point which is that a website's review should not be a necessary component for one's enjoyment of a game. It's nice to get the confirmation that GTAV is great, which all fans of the game received. So i'm not sure where the anger origninates.

I'm also not sure what causes someone to target a reviewer the way many members of the site have. I'm certain that the majority came from the: Worst. Generation. Ever.

I wonder if the online was available if the score would have been higher? R* has said that it is the cornerstone of this game.

The strength of the Hitman series has always been the level design and objectives. Anyone who played and fell in love with this series did so because a particular assassination was well built and challenging or memorable. Reviewing a Hitman game beyond this very simple blueprint is a waste of time.

I think story can only help a game but there are some franchises that we buy without regard for story and it is my opinion that this just happens to be one of them. You buy a game like Skyrim for a very different reason than you do Hitman.
