I don't understand how someone can have a "right" to another person's services.

Jocubus

Well I mean the same could be said about law enforcement, teachers, firemen, military, etc. It's not like the people providing the service don't get paid, the government pays them through tax payer money. If a government isn't put in place to protect the well being of its citizens foremost than what is it there for?

And one of the most important things I believe to protecting the well being of the citizens is readily available medical attention. We focus a lot of money and manpower on protecting the people from foreign physical threats yet internally there are thousands unable to get any coverage. Well, hopefully not anymore after the legislation passed this weekend.

"Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the over-compensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand."
- Aldous Huxley

Friends.

I've never seen, nor heard of Seinfield. Plus, I enjoyed Friends a lot when it ran.

That's just impossible, I can't believe it.

It's actually kind of comedic in the sense that it would be a practice in role reversal. For centuries it was the Christians burning the books.

GabuEx

Actually, it's still a Christian burning the books. :P

Yea, I made the common mistake of making assumptions instead of actually reading. Who reads right?

*edit* oops sorry. I made the mistake of reading people's comments before reading the actual article. Still, we have the printing press, what good is burning a book going to do?

For those whining about lung cancer, you can do something like bake it into brownies where the only thing you'll be contributing to is America's greatest past-time: obesity.

There's plenty of non-smokers that support its legalization. That and economists who want to tax the hell out of it. :P

Of course there should be some restrictions on it's usage, but I'm totally fine with it being legalized. It has medical benefits, isn't nearly as addictive as the media blows it up to be (its like the easiest drug to quit, seriously), and is better for you than smoking cigarettes.

Are you sure about the cigarette-thing? Because I heard that each joint smoked contains five-times more tar than a cigarette...

Tar? What kind of joints are you rolling man. Sheesh.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the severe drought happening right now in Africa, the most severe since the disastrous drought in the 80s. Many people are without crops or food and are starving. Farmers have lost their entire crop and are desperately trying to feed their families. It's a sad state of affairs and donating food to the people who need it there can only do good.

For the same reasons people believe in stuff like pagan magick and faith healing. They're bloody idiots.
