If I was a boutique pc manufacturer, I would just slap a steam case badge on an existing gaming pc and call it a steam machine.

how does the console version of crisis affect the pc version?

didn't they teach you how to read context in school?

Well, they have to limit the PC version because they have to be compatible with both. They have to limit the freedom the mouse gives within the range the gamepad limits.

PS: Didn't they teach you how to form paragraphs in school? Your posts are all but impossible to read.

No and I still don't understand all the praise that fatman gets. That's all hermits ever talk about is how turned on they get for that guy. It's pretty bad when they make gifs claiming he is a god. Guys are crazy.

Gaben is the god of PC gaming.. You noobs don't realize he used to work for Microsoft as a producer on the earliest versions of windows. He was a visionary in the development of windows as a gaming platform. It was commonly known that windows was NOT a viable gaming platform before his efforts.. It is because of Gaben that PC gaming is and ever became a thing.. It was after his time at Microsoft that he left and formed Valve corporation out of his back pocket, and all the great thing he's done with the Steam platform. Everything PC gaming is literally because of Gaben..

He's pretty fucking brilliant and a genius in the gaming world... Now do you see?

Steam ruined PC gaming. I'll give you that Gaben Satanus made windows a viable gaming platform. But you say that as if it is a good thing?! IBM compatibles (what we call PCs today) were probably the worst platform for gaming when PCs were coming of age. If it were not for Gaben Satanus, PC gamers would most likely be using a real computing gaming platforms like Amiga or Atari. Not crappy office computers. yeech! Because that is what an IBM compatible (what we call PCs today) are.

Personally, I don't like steam at all. I guess you could call me a "hermit." But I prefer boxed editions of games. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I prefer a hard copy instruction manual that is actually useful. Steam is at least partly to blame for the demise of the boxed editions of PC games. In fact, many games I have bought upon installation, they just downloaded the Steam version??? WTF? I felt completely ripped off and betrayed.

Plus, Half Life 2 sucked. But that's a completely different thread. I just don't understand the appeal of Valve games. I just wish I could de-steamify the games I bought off there.

Well, in Win7 you simply hit the windows key and then start typing and search results would come up. In Win8

The same happens in windows 8. only difference is that the modernUI comes up instead of the startmenu, but it takes the same number of steps/clicks.

hmm ... lol... I just never bothered to try to type. I just assumed because there was no prompt that you couldn't do that.

I still can't for the love of me figure out why people want the old style 20 year old start menu back. It takes an ungodly amount of clicks to simply access a program. You have to click start, then all programs, then the program folder and then finally the program that you want to simply open a program. It's such an old fashioned and slow method to open files. With Windows 8.1 you simply either use the search function, type the first 3 or 4 letters of your program and hit enter or hit the windows key on your keyboard and click the program. Microsoft has essentially cut out a ton of needless steps to opening files. But I guess if you like doing things the inefficient way that's what you like.

Well, in Win7 you simply hit the windows key and then start typing and search results would come up. In Win8, you either have to touch the upper right corner of the screen, which is a little tricky when you have dual monitors, or press winkey+s. So, in win8,there's an extra step. Which is a step backwards from Win7. You should hit the winkey, and search comes up along with the list of programs. I don't see why they changed this in win8.

The fact you cannot turn off driver signing makes win8 all but unusable to me.

I swear, people don't even take a minute to research these days. The amount of time they spend complaining on a forum, they would have fixed the problem they were complaining about in the first place.

And the F8 menu is still there, it just works different. Do some research as to why and how MS has changed the boot sequence and you'll be amazed.

http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

And there's nothing "white knight" about not using signed drivers, it just means MS hasn't gotten around to testing them yet. Heck, I rarely use signed drivers or else half my devices wouldn't work (although MS seem to test a lot more these days). To criticize an OS because some drivers you need aren't digitally signed is laughable.

I know all about that one there buddy. You have to do that EVERYTIME you turn on your computer. That is, turn pc on, set f8 screen, reboot, then you can use your computer. It is a work around and not a fix. With Win7, you simply did the bcdedit command or used the group policy editor and test mode was permanent. No longer.

Just face the fact that I have found real reasons to think that Windows 8 sucks besides issues with the metro interface. You just can't stand the fact that your precious little Win8 isn't loved by all.

Well, I have come to a pass with Windows 8. I've tried desperately to like it, but it failed ever so miserably. The fact you cannot turn off driver signing makes win8 all but unusable to me. You can't even bring up the F8 menu for cripes sake!

I can understand redoing the interface to suit new technology. I have no problem with this. But when you nerf features and break things that are necessary for you to use the programs and drivers that you want to use, it makes the operating system useless.

I know there's going to be a white knight or two to tell me that I actually don't need to use drivers that aren't signed for whatever reasons, but I do. Period.

The only improvement that they have made with win8 is that the OS loads quicker. This could and should have been done with Vista.

U.S. Senior District Judge Terence Kern ruled Tuesday afternoon that Oklahoma’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.

This just proves that these judges have absolutely no clue as to how to interpret the constitution.
