@nate1222 @Gelugon_baat @motopram As someone who works in the biotech industry, your assertion that companies don't try to cure anything because it is more economical to treat illness is fallacious.

It is fair that someone may be inclined to think the way you do, as it is that you do not know how the economic life cycle of treatment actually functions.

I assure you, the owners of the first patents for systemic cures for diseases like cancer are going to make more money than you could imagine,

@Dinostrich I agree with basically everything you said, but I'd point out that the major problem with the WiiU's horsepower is how that will limit 3rd party support in the future. That and its a different architecture to the newer consoles which makes the console the hardest to port too for the smaller install base. Many people also say that the WiiU is a great second console, but it's pretty damn expensive for that to be a popular option.

@Xristophoros They'll be surely be great games, but only 2 highly anticipated releases in the second year of a consoles life is not a good year.

The software potential for the other 4 main systems is much higher than that, and Nintendo's own 3DS has that many highly anticipated games every other month.

@KenderDragon I think Nintendo should drop home consoles after they've finished supporting the WiiU. Focus on software and the handheld hardware market.

@lingo56 I disagree, I think if Nintendo released their software on Sony and Microsoft consoles they would sell millions of copies of games in the flagship franchises. Platformers are very popular, and the other major consoles lack good local multiplayer experiences. I think millions more people would happily buy a new Zelda or Mario for their PS3/360 then would ever bother buying a WiiU to do so.

Anyway, the WiiU is pretty much dead. I mean, in terms of monthly sales Pokemon X/Y for the 3DS (which had an install base 9x that of the WiiU, and been out almost 3 times as long, and carries a magnificent library) was a bigger sales boost than the WiiU is experiencing for new Mario. Consumers don't care about it, and I don't think Nintendo can fix that now.

The more I have seen of the XBO the less I think it is a good 'value proposition'. I find the new controller a step backwards from the old one, the UI is stupidly designed in order to 'encourage' you to use voice commands, Kinect itself is not good enough to justify the extra cost or the amount of horsepower reserved for its function. Lastly, the whole integrated entertainment thing is not very useful, especially outside the US where few people have cable boxes, and other local uses aren't supported.

@mischiefmeerkat You can download motioninjoy drivers to make the DS3 work to play games on your PC, now they're just making the drivers native to the DS4.

Demon's Souls if you have a PS3. If you're a Dark Souls fan and you haven't played it yet, now is a good time. The servers are still on and a lot of players have been going back to play it recently so the online functionality is reasonably good.

@s3as3a I so glad that Sony added a 'hide trophies' option in one of the software patches a while ago. I assume you can do the same with the 360? Just so annoying, and immersion breaking, having a symbol pop up in the corner of your screen feeding you info from outside the game. I'm playing the game, I know what I just did.
