@Khasym I wrote him as well. I kept it short and told him that as an Iraq War veteran I felt not only marginalized but also deeply offended by his comments.
It's apparently easier, and far less risky, for politicians to attack video games than it is to talk about the idea of gun control. I love how the Senator says the shooter felt more courageous about taking his mothers gun that he'd seen in a game. But I feel like I'm the only one wondering why his mom had an assault rifle and ammo in the house in the first place. I'm pretty sure that common sense would say that maybe keeping a gun and ammo in a home where a child diagnosed with mental illness might not be such a good idea. But then again, I never met a gun owner who would let a little something like common sense keep them from owning guns.
I wouldn't blame Take Two if they did threaten to sue. When I heard about the L.A. Noire TV show I thought for sure it was based on the game. And when I heard it was going to star the guy that played Shane on Walking Dead I thought "that dude is nothing like the guy in the game, but it should still be cool". Not sure if I'm interested in a show that's not based on the game though,
@LesserAngel @wbe_xLink crappy parenting has a part in a lot of this as well. How about this sad sack who shot up Sandy Hook took guns from his gun nut mother. A mother who kept assault weapons and ammunition in a home with a child who was diagnosed with mental problems. Who does that?
I'd also like to point out that this state senator made absolutely no mention of movies or television which are not only more violent but also far more people engage in both than those of us who play games. Perhaps he didn't mention TV or movies because he's a CALIFORNIAN state senator and he doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds him so to speak. So now I have to ask who has less credibility here Mr. Yee?
@wiouds I completely agree. I actually visited his website and decided to send him an email asking him to explain how an American citizen doesn't have any credibility.
I would like to have Mr. Lee explain to me how I, as an American citizen, don't have any "credibility" when it comes to discussing issues that affect me. I'm pretty sure we still live in America and I'm also pretty sure that fact automatically allows me to voice my opinion. After reading his comments I have never felt so insulted by something a politician has said.
