Five Reasons Why the PS4 Will Fail

Everyone likes the nice graphics. And everyone likes games too. If we were to be honest, people, we would all certainly say something like play on a PC, or a play on an Xbox, but none of us would ever say play on a Playstation console, they're really awesome because that's f*cking ridiculous. No one actually likes Sony, they just like the idea of them.

Now that we all agree on that, here's a number of reasons why SONY Corporation's Playstation 4 will break up on impact and leave little more than a minor skidmark on the underwear of gaming, fast food, vaginas, etc, etc.

NUMBER ONE - NO ONE CARES ABOUT IT

When the Wii was announced there was a celebration and certain Professsional Gaming Journalists (hahaha) got all wet and perhaps even experienced the closest simulations of orgasm to date, and maybe even did not eat at Red Lobster that night or eat Tacos Locos Doritos. There were celebrations in the street. Hats were thrown. GameInformer, however incorrectly, predicted that the Wii would DEFINITELY BE WORTH BUYING. Somewhere, somehow, Regis Philbin got his d*ck in something.

When the Playstation 4 was announced somewhere in Buffalo an elk sh*t itself.

NUMBER TWO - JONATHAN BLOW SEEMINGLY SUPPORTS IT(when you make more than one game ((a pretty good game, to be fair)) having criticised BioShock, make that three more than decent games over a period of time, and you aren't a pretencely cum soaked douche bag then please, by all means, be the voice of indie gaming and consoles, etc. In the meantime speaking is not the best thing you do with your mouth so get on with it.

Asking which game is a better RPG is kind of funny. Skyrim, as everyone knows, is very shallow. There are few quests in which you have choice and consequence. The character system is Skyrim has no real bearing on the way you play the game, as there's always another option, and a Jack-of-All-Trades character is more or less encouraged by the breadth of the gameworld. The quests are a joke, the writing is sh*t, and the storyline is maybe the most ridiculous thing Bethesda has ever concocted (for inveterate writers of fan-fic quality nonsense like them that is an accomplishment). The only reason to play it really is to loot dungeons, and even then the game suffers from a lack of variety more obvious and sore there because it afflicts the game's only redeeming content. 

New Vegas (by Obsidian, how is this so hard) on the other hand has very deep interconnecting quest lines, a gameworld designed for reactivity and exclusivity of options with the game's character systems, superior moment to moment writing, world design, characterisation, story, atmosphere, and so on. I'd be hard pressed to see Skyrim as being in the same league with something as deeply layered as New Vegas just as a game, but as a Role Playing Game? They aren't in the same league, hardly the same sport, even.

If you do like Skyrim better, hey, that's no problem, I understand perfectly. But please do me a favor and PM me. I have some lovely Everglades properties I'd like to discuss with you.

David Cage is a rambling prick. His games are proclaimed attempts at pushing gaming forward (as if it needed his sole effort), but in fact they do nothing to advance the medium whatsoever. They are slogs through old ideas, seen countless times in other, better, adventure games. His plotlines are shlocky, overly sentimental, and heavy with unearned importance and gravitas.

Kojima is also a rambler, but he isn't a prick. The Metal Gear Solid games have a sense of humor and are genuinely subversive of the medium. He has a better sense of scene, and a better eye for frames. His scripts are undeniably ridiculous. They are also often very interesting cultural commentaries. The paranoia and "did you know" activism of MGS is something I cannot imagine gaming being without. I can imagine gaming without Heavy Rain/Indigo very easily.
