Stalker

Just started to play Stalker - what a game - completely immersive - i've wanted to play a freer-form FPS like this for a long time - it's just great, audio and visuals superb and somehow gun battles seem really 'realistic'

The worst thing i'm finding is that I get so absorbed i forget to save, and lose about 15-20 mins' worth of progress sometimes

A great game, though i keep thinking someone's gonna hit me for saying 'have you got something interesting to tell me?' it sounds like a really sarcastic thing to say to armed people in a radiation zone...

PC Games I've Played

Thought I'd have a go at listing every PC game I've played. Most are shooters, but there's a few point-and-click there too.

I'll try and update it as I go:

Bioshock

Blade Runner

Call of Duty

Chrome, Chrome Specforce

Deus Ex

Devastation

Doom, Doom II, Final Doom

Far Cry

FEAR, FEAR: Extraction Point

Fritz 9 (Chess)

Halo

Heretic

Hexen

Painkiller, Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell

Quake. Quake II, Quake III: Arena, Quake 4

Red Faction

Return To Castle Wolfenstein

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened

SOF I and II

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl

Star Trek: Elite Force I and II

System Shock 2

Thief: The Dark Project

Unreal

Unreal Tournament - original/2003/2004

Finished Bioshock - now onto Quake IV!

Finished Bioshock a couple of days ago - have posted a short review - basicallyI really enjoyed it, though it could have been more challenging at times.

After a highly immersive game like that, which requires some elements of tactical gameplay, I fancied getting back to a straight shoot-em-up, so out came Quake IV from the box - always wanted to play it, but didn't have the rig until now.

Immediately think it's a great game, a straight continuation of Quake II, with obviously better graphics and added extras in terms of fighting alongside team members (but not in an annoying way) and plenty of new weapons, vehicles etc.

More when i finish it.

I may start alongside it a more RPG-focussed game, I've got STALKER still to play, but i now also have System Shock II, after people mentioned it with such reverence on this site.

Mind you, a lot of people said it is similar to Bioshock (or rather the other way round) so maybe I'll go for STALKER first.

opening blog

just joined the board - been gaming for 15 years or so. i almost exclusively play FPS - just love the whole scenario of being literally immersed in another place, and basically finding new ways to blast the hell out of people - it's a great de-stresser!

My favourite game of all time is the original Unreal - such a new environment, the first time i can recall seeing blue skies and green vegetation in a game - add to that the mixture of creatures encountered, not just enemies but the neutral Nali

Also really like Return to Wolfenstein, Star Trek Elite Force (except the stupid endings), and enjoyed Painkiller for it's sheer craziness

Currently playing Bioshock, whcih i'm finding really absorbing and enjoyable. it seems to me it would be worth playign twice, as it takes time to get the hang of using the environment around you and the 'plasmids'

anyway, just trying this blog thing out - could be my first and only entry, but for now - happy gaming
