@grimakis: Actually, Mario Kart 8 outsold Mario Kart: Double Dash. Over 8 million Mario Kart 8 copies on Wii U alone versus less than 7 million on Double Dash. That's the reason Nintendo's porting it, they know it was the highest selling game on Wii U. If they were really trying to recover like you insinuate, then you'd see Splatoon 1 ported over, not Splatoon 2, Super Mario 3D World ported over, not Super Mario Odyssey. Is the reason Tetris was ported over to Game Boy Color as Tetris DX in 1998 when it debuted because of the pathetic sales of the original Game Boy? Is the reason Super Mario Brothers 2 enhanced and ported to Game Boy Advance because the NES was such a low seller? Nintendo has ported games many, MANY times. Also, it's 32-ish million for Mario Kart Wii, so Mario Kart 8 on Wii U is about 1/4, but compared to Double Dash, it's higher!

Nintendo won't win this year's E3, they're going to be too focused on 3DS, despite AAA 3rd party developers already moving onto Switch. Nintendo's shooting themselves in the foot by not taking full advantage of Switch marketing it as both a home and handheld system.

These whole "cross plays" stuff is fake, because once these servers go down (they will eventually), these devices will no longer be able to have any connection at all with each other. These only connect to the same server, not each other!

I'm getting less and less enthusiastic about E3 this year for Nintendo. First, they say it's only going to be for games released in 2017, which kind of narrows it down, because early 2018 should be talked about too! I don't know, if they're only going to be talking about games released between Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey, I don't expect that number to be too large. Really, I'm anticipating this will be a 3DS heavy show, with a few Switch games. For whatever reason, despite the world loving Switch more, Nintendo seems to love 3DS more.

@snugglebear: well, there is that mobile app, and if they're trying to tie apps with upcoming games (like Pokemon Go did with Sun and Moon to really drive those sales), then maybe there's a new Animal Crossing game later this year (probably just for Japan while the US has to wait until 2018 since technically Japan has been waiting longer for a new installment given they got New Leaf like 8 months before everyone else).

@BlueCokeDragon: that's also making the assumption Mario will be as good as Zelda, we don't know anything about it yet, and Zelda was pretty damn good!!

@ZIMdoom: don't forget about Animal Crossing, it's getting a mobile app at some point.

@Daian: and more info on their paid program, and how this will work on Switch- they've only teased it so far.

You're also forgetting the NES Classic's insane demand at the start of the year, especially after Nintendo announced it was being discontinued.

Yawn, this is only going to sell to those desperate for non-Wii U ports. I'm not getting it, it looks stupid, and is just another hold-over, because of Nintendo's idiotic decision to keep consoles and handhelds as separate platforms, despite Iwata merging them in 2013.
