As everyone knows there are going to be a lot of new games coming out either right before the Christmas season or during the Christmas season. My problem lies in the fact that right now I am living in Switzerland and can really only afford one game this season. I was hoping for some insight from the Gamespot community as to which one I should buy. If you want to you can explain why I should buy the game you voted for but even just a vote will do. Thanks!

This is great news to hear. I am not too worried about blu-ray stuff, if i really want something I'll import it because I'll be bringing it back to the US in a few years, and I'm not much of a DLC'er, plus there are easy ways around that, so it looks like i get to keep my PS3, yay!

My wife and I are in the process of moving from the US to Switzerland in the next month or so. I am hoping/wondering if the PS3 is in fact region free? I know that DVDs and Blu-Ray are region locked, but what about PS3 games? As long as I can play those games I don't need to worry about selling my PS3 and get all the sweet new games that are coming out. Any information would be great so I can start convincing my wife to keep it. :)

Just wondering which one is better. I mean the 9600 has the quad core, but not the processor speed, but the 8400 seems to be garnering better praise. Oh what to do what to do.

Ok that makes sense, good thing I don't want to play Crysis. Next noob question, my monitor can not display at crazy resolutions...1600x1400 and whatnot. So that means i don't have to get the top of the line cards to get amazing visuals right? Because of lesser pixels I should be able to spend less money hypothetically right?

To me computer hardware is very hard to keep up with. ATI and NVIDIA seem to release a new lineup every 3 months and every time I look forward to upgrading something new comes out and I back out. My question is, how often should I upgrade? I see some people upgrading twice a year and some people once a year. Should I just set a time and upgrade no matter what the waters look like or should I just forget about PC gaming?

If you look at pure horsepower, the 9800gtx has better specs but is a little more expensive. The 4850 does more with less, or that is what it seems when I read reviews and benchmarks and things, and it costs less. Based on cost I would say 4850 but the 9800 seems to handle itself better alone than ATI cards so my final answer is the 9800 but just slightly.

I am going to get it for the PS3 just so I actually use my PS3. I mean I played GTA 4 and i played MLB the show, but after that my PS3 has been sitting idle for too long. I can't wait to fire it up again with all the sweet new releases coming out, and with the Greatest Hits titles coming out I can finally justify purchasing a 2 year old game, Resistance! But back on topic, yes I will be getting it for the PS3.

Well if gamespot is going to follow precedent, Alone in the Dark will receive a perfect 10. I base this on the fact that Alone in the Dark has adverts on the website. GTA IV and MGS 4 had adverts on the website before it was released and they received perfect 10s. If you couldn't tell I am quite annoyed with Gamespot handing out two perfect scores in two months when they havn't handed out a perfect score in 4 years. Especially since GTA had a large amount of bugs, and I say large amount because Rockstar released a statement to fix them, and MGS was a 30 hour playthrough with 20+ hours of that time being cut scenes. Both games were great, but you better have a complete game, (read: not GTA), and a game you actually play, (read: not MGS) in order to receive a perfect score.
