Yeah, but can you explain to me how a 50GB disc could not store more information (pixels, textures, i dunno) and therefore equal a more fulfilled look than a 9GB disc? I'm not comparing framerate or anything, just the information stored on the discs.

Soz I don't know much about Graphics processing and the like.

what most developers so far have used the extra storage space for is mostly audio and cutscenes. Uncompressed audio>compressed audio. I had given up on the ps3, I figured I would use it as a bluray player, until yesterday when I played uncharted. It is a graphical masterpiece.

So does Uncharted's graphical brilliance have anything to do with the Blu-Ray media or is it all about the GPU/CPU? I find it hard to believe that devs have only utilized an extra 40GB+ worth of space on enchanced audio and cutscenes... these should only account for like 1-2GB right? Am I missing something here?

[QUOTE="-wii60-"]Blu ray =/= better graphics.bigevil_rashek

Stop writing bs........blu ray doesn't affect graphics, just the length of a game. Also it effects audio, as some files don't have to be compressed.

Uh, I think by "=/=" he meant "does not equal", so your all in agreeance with each other.

In terms of actual game performance online they are pretty much identical since most servers are peer to peer. Some games have actual dedicated servers which is cool. This is both platforms.

Live has more content online, and has a more uniform appearance. You can access the console in game and receive messages and the like. PS3 is supposed to get this soon, but we've been waiting a while already. The PSN store is basically a website, not really integrated into the PS3 like Live. There are demos, trailers, ps1 games and other DLC available for free and purchase. Sony is supposed to start releasing some of the content from their music and movie divisions on the PSN some time this year.

Sixaxis seems to be used mostly for minigames nowadays, but its also used alot in racing games like motorstorm and also Warhawk. I think its a nice addition. Other than Lair and some other titles its mostly optional and can be turned off if you don't feel like it, but games like Heavenly Sword, High Velocity Bowling, and Folklore make VERY good use of it.

Very informative post, thank you!

^Less than $4.50 :)

I can't believe I forgot about PSN vs XBL in my OP! Bah!

Is there really a massively noticable difference between the 2? I'm sure once Home rolls round the difference will be negligible, and saving $80 (Australian) a year doesn't hurt either.

Now what I'm really concerned with is the controller, I mean whats the deal with SixAxis? I'm really uneducated in this department :(

Is motion-sensing utilized in most games or just a few? And is it fun?

I was thinking about which console out of PS3 and Xbox 360 is the better gaming system when it comes to games that can be played on both consoles (multiplats).

Is it stupid of me to think that the PS3's Blu-Ray media will enhance the graphics and picture quality simply because there is more space on it (50GB) to fit information on?

And let us also not forget which controller is best, I have used Dual Shock since PS1 was out and love the feel of it, whereas Xbox controllers I find take some getting used to. However I've only played PS3 once and that was in a shop playing Fifa 08 for like 5 minutes. I don't know anything about the Dual Shock 3 eg. Do they all come with integrated SixAxis? What percentage of games involve motion sensing?

Some of my friends who own 360's say that PS3's are not fluid graphically and and are "sh!tty". This is most probably because they own 360's and are biased, but I stll wonder if there is truth in what they say.

I haven't had much experience playing 360 or PS3, so I'd love to hear from people who own them.

MotoRacer81

this topic will pretty much start a war here in SW.

most multiplats look better on the 360 but that's because the devs are not completely used to programming for the PS3 yet. The exclusive titles on the PS3 look amazing and Uncharted is the best looking game on consoles to date and it it a PS3 exclusive, so the PS3 is capable for sure, it just has not shown it yet.

now, there are multiplats that look and play better on the PS3 like Oblivion and Dirt. Other multiplats are almost exact on both machines like COD4 and the darkness, and other games.

Certainly the early titles for both machines specially look bettter on the 360 though. the newer games, the difference is almost negligable although some title do look obviously better on the 360.

as for motion sensing, some of its uses are brilliant like in WarHawk or in Heavenly Sword, but for the most part it's turned off for me although I really enjoyed playing Heavenly Sword with the six axis controlls

Great answer :)

To me, it seems like motion sensing is a massive move for Sony, and I'm not quite sure I could get into it after playing normal console games for so long (and disliking Wii)

Come on man... I need at least some reasoning to back that up.
