No, he's not. He didn't say 'the Muslims are out to get us', because he unlike the Islamists has the sense to realise that neither group is a homogenous pack with uniform beliefs.
Arguments for the Burqa based on liberty and the restriction thereof are absurd. It's an instrument of repression generally worn because of pressure from male relatives and indoctrination. Banning the Burqa would allow women forced to wear it the freedom to show their faces. Nothing in the Qur'an stipulates that it ever needs to be worn, and nothing is gained by wearing it; all it does is continue Islam's hateful tradition of misogyny hidden under a thin veil of 'protection' of women, and cause the Islamic community to be even more segregated than it already is.
