Hope you enjoy the jump to the PS3, it's just a great machine with very low failure rates. I personally didn't get a replacement plan for my PS3 as I've never had a gaming console go out on me, especially the Playstations. For the HDMI cable, if you don't have one already, get one off of Amazon. Should run you no more then $10, probably less.

As far as the Blu-Rays go, I haven't bought many of them yet and it sounds like what I do have others have already recommended to you. Check out avsforums.com for more information on the Blu-Rays and see what is available that you would like. And I believe there is still the deal with the PS3 when you buy one that you get 5 free blu-ray movies. You can get the coupon here at http://bluraysavings.com

Newegg in my opinion is the best place to get computer hardware hands down. If you have a problem they are great to work with and get it taken care of, no hoops to jump through.

I would get the PS3, and this is coming from a guy who has both the 360 and PS3. They do compliment each other nicely and offer something else. There are many many games that are coming out later this year, and into next year. Even if the games you want aren't out yet, you can always go and play some PS2 games on the PS3 to bide your time until the games you want come out. Warhawk looks to me like a game that I have to get, as well as the new GT. HS looks interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll get that or not right now. I am however looking forward to the new Socom that is coming out as that is one of the best shooter series that i have played. The first 2 really kept me entertained for many months and in fact years.

There will be games coming out soon that even you will enjoy and find impressive. Not to mention the online store games that are quite a bit of fun. Another bonus is that now I can surf the web from my PS3 in the living room instead of having to go to my computer room. It's a good investment and you even get a BR player out of it too, so you can enjoy some high def movies.

Tell us, What type of games do you enjoy? How do you enjoy spending your gaming time? That will give us a better idea to figure out what genre's you prefer and enjoy. There are many good reasons to get a PS3. Maybe you'd love something like Heavenly Sword, or Socom Confrontation? Hard to say without guessing what you do enjoy. As far as halo, I thought Halo 2 was ok, but it still never gave me the enjoyment that Socom 1 or 2 did and I didn't have to put up with very many mouthy racist kids online either. Oh and if you are one of those loud annoying kids, please don't buy a PS3.

Get the PS3, but concentrate on your school work and get yourself a scholorship for college and then use federal grants as well to pick up whatever slack. After that, then look at getting student loans.

Psst, he's the CEO of the Pal territories. Basically the European version of Jack Tretton, whom we haven't heard a word from about this.

^Topic.

my tv doesnt have an HDMI output

MKDSmaster

Do you currently have the component cables for the PS2? Because those will work too, they are identical to the PS3 ones. If not, you can get teh Sony branded component cables for just $20 at any of the big retailers, butWal-mart may have the better price on them.

even for 1080i? probablyt not for upconverting dvds though right?genfuyung

Yes, they work fine in 1080i. I just bought my PS3 two days ago and just plugged in my PS2 component cables and it worked just fine. I have however, no idea on upconverting DVD's with it though, but i wouldn't see why it wouldn't at least show up better then in a regular dvd player.
