I used to play a lot of Guild Wars back in the day, is that a better comparable? There is no pause function there, but later on they did ad "heros" that you could fully control as well as a similar auto attack with special abilities combat system. If the gameplay is much like that, I will probably pick up Dragon Age.

Thanks for the info. I suppose I could buy a mouse, this is the more minor point. Basically I just don't want to drop $50-$60 unless I'm sure I'd like it. Are there any good comparisons you could make to other games? For example, how similar/different is the gameplay from Oblivion? Obviously you already mentioned the ability to pause the game to set up attacks and you can have a party with you, unlike Oblivion, but other than that how does the gameplay compare?

Hey everyone,

I recently made the switch from PC to Mac, and I'm in the market for a couple of games to keep me occupied when I'm bored on my xbox games. I'm very interested in Dragon Age Origins. Got a great rating here on gamespot, the graphics look good and the concept seems interesting. I have two concerns though. The first is the style of gameplay. There is an element of turn-based play, correct? I have shied away from games like that in the past and I prefer games with more real-time action (for example, I'ma big fan of games like Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout, etc.). How "turn based" is Dragon Age?

Also, I don't have a mouse. How playable is this game just using the trackpad, is it worth it without a mouse?

Hi all,

I'm looing for a new game to pick up, and I was considering Fable 2. I've never played Fable 1, but I love games like Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, etc. Worth picking up a used copy?

Also open to other suggestions.

I know you guys must get flooded with these all the time, but I am in need of assistance to help me decide on a new game to get. I tried to do my own research so I could avoid filling the forum with yet another post like this, but I am still undecided.

I was originally anticipating Too Human, but upon the seeing so many awful reviews and seeing the generally negative response among you gamers, it looks like I will have to rethink that. I don't want to spend $60 on crap after all!

Unfortunately, I do not have xbox live, since my fraternity house internet is spread among about 20 other people, making even connecting to xbox live impossible. To help you help me, here are the games that I own and play: Half-Life 2: Orange Box, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Vegas 2, and CoD4. Not a bad list of games, I know, but I am rather bored by all of them at this point. I have looked into Too Human (I love a good RPG, but it appears that this will disappoint me), Battlefield: Bad Company, and Condemned 2.

I can't seem to decide what to get. I don't need the single player game of the year here, just something to keep me entertained for a few weeks until Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Brothers in Arms comes out. I probably would have decided on Bad Company if I knew that you could player multiplayer game types offline with bots (like you can do with all the other Battlefield games), but I can't seem to confirm that. If anyone could nudge me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. I am, of course, open to any other suggestions that I may have missed. Again, I apologize for another drab "what game should I get post", but I searched around on the forums here, as well as gamespot.com and a few other sites, to no avail. Thanks in advance for any gaming advice!

I know MGS2: Substance isn't highly regarded on the PC because of its insanely confusing control setup. I've always been more of a consol gamer, and MGS2 was my favorite game when it came out. A few years later, I'm bored over the summer, so I buy substance for xbox (I only have a PC and an xbox 360 now). I realize after the fact that the 360 does not support MGS2, as it is one o the many games that the 360 is not backwards compatible with. So I return the xbox version and buy the PC version in an attempt to replay one of my favorite games growing up.

I was thinking about solving the control problem by buying a USB wireless receiver for my xbox 360 controller to play. If anyone has any experience with MGS2 for the PC using consol controllers, please let me know how it worked out for you before I buy my own wireless receiver. I appreciate any feedback!

Hey everyone,

So here is the situation I'm in. My friend and I are sophomores in college, and love to play Halo 3 together when we're bored. However, we're getting rather fed up with the poor community online. There are simply way too many 12-14 year old kids (no offense to those of you that are that age) who apparently spend WAY too much time playing Halo, and are consequently way too good for the casual gamers that we are. I'm not even going to mention the extreme immaturity that goes around, because I'm sure you're all well aware. We play mainly social games, but that doesn't seem to help. It feels like every game we play is against a team of grade 2 generals who have a level 45 in virtually every game type.

Anyway, I've been looking for a good game that I can play online as an alternative to Halo when I don't feel like trying to compete at that level. I tried Vegas 2, and I loved the offline but the online didn't do it for me. I don't like running into a room and dying before you can even figure out which direction you're being shot at. I'm a big fan of shooters in genera, but here's a list of games that I currently have: Mass Effect, Halo 3, Splinter Cell D.A., Half Life 2 The Orange Box, Bioshock, and Vegas 2. I actually enjoyed playing some Team Fortress 2 on the Organge Box, but apparently I'm alone there as its tough to find games to play. I had COD4, but my brother currently has our copy back home. I loved the single player, never played the multiplayer. I've heard its great, but I have a feeling I'll run into the same problem I ran into with Vegas 2...I don't like online games where I die in 3 shots. Those games tend to have a rather steep online learning curve because of how quickly you can get killed by kids who have way too much spare time.

So, does anyone have any suggestions of a fun game for xbox live with a less competitive, more mature community? Don't get me wrong, I do like to play a competitive game, but I would like the option of coming back from a long day of classes and playing a few rounds of a game where I don't get roasted by kids who don't have a social life. And before you suggest it, I don't really have enough friends on xbox live to play custom games on a regular basis in Halo. Trust me, if I could, I would. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
