I'd upgrade to an x2 6000 or 6400 too.. for a decent cheap upgrade without changing out the motherboard.

is your motherboard a am2 socket if not it wont work

Aren't all of the Athlon 64 X2 processors the same? If my 4200 works a 6000 should work too, right?

I was thinking about upgrading to a 9800 GT but I'm not sure if that's enough or even possible with my current system. I'm not as computer savy as some of you so any advice would be appreciated.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 2.21 GHz processor

Asus A8N SLI Premium nForce 4 motherboard

2048MB PC3200 DDR400 memory

550 Watt Antec True Power 2.0 power supply

200GB Western Digital 7200rpm hard drive
