New England Patriots over the San Francisco 49ers

First off my favorite team is the Miami Dolphins, and have been for 20 years now. I can put aside my personal feelings and admit they'll be lucky to get to 9 wins. Now I hate New England, but I can admit their the best team in the league and will win the superbowl. Now the NFC is not as good as the NFC, but San Francisco is above the rest.

Finished Code Geass Anime

While I was looking for a new anime to watch I came across Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in Newtype magazine. So I decided to check it out. The story takes place in a alternate earth. The year is 2010, a country called Britannia controls half the world and invades Japan. They easily win and change the name to Area 11. Seven years later a young man named Lelouch seeks revenge against Britannia and joins the resistance movement. That's the outline of the show. It's a decent anime. The characters aren't great, but are good. The broad story is the best part of the show. The animation is good. The music is bad. Overall I'd give a rating of a 7/10. Though there will be a season 2 sometime in early 2008. So this rating as a potently to get worse or better.

Armitage III

I recently downloaded Armitage III, and I'm not talking about the average movie that came out a few years ago. I'm talking about the OVA that came out 12 years ago. I haven't seen it in about eight years, and I wanted to see it again. It's a great OVA, that tackles many of the same topics of humans and machines that Ghost in the Shell does, but does a far, far better job of it. It came out about the same time as the first Ghost in the Shell movie, and was overlooked by the over rated movie. It's very unappreciated and I would recommend highly over Ghost in the Shell. My rating is 10/10.

I might as well talk about the movie sequel that came out in 2002. It's called Armitage III: Duel-Matrix. I have two scores for this movie. The Dubbed version I'd give a 3/10, and the subtitled version I'd give a 6/10. The animation was ok, the story was good, but what really made the difference in the two were the voice actors they chose the dubbed version. Juliette Lewis as Armitage and so were all the other American voice actors. I mean this has to be one of the worst dubbed anime anything I've seen. If you rent this movie or buy it, only watch the subtitled version, it's a lot better.

New TOP 10 anime

It's been almost 2 years since I last added a new anime to my top 5(FMA). Now I have 2 new ones to my list and some other ones to my top 10.

1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Still the best anime I've seen.

2. Cowboy Bebop: A true classic I never get tired of.

3. Romeo X Juliet: I wanted to wait till it ended, but that's going to take a while. So unless it goes horribly wrong this is the first new anime I've put in the my top 5 since FMA almost 2 years ago.

4. Eureka Seven: A new classic, the more I watch it the better it gets.

5. Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X OVA'S: Still a great series, but the animation doesn't hold up as well as other older series, that's one of the reasons why it isn't number 2 anymore.

6. Wolf's Rain: A unappreciated original series.

7. Blue Gender: Another unappreciated series that doesn't get it's due.

8. Trigun: Another great anime, that has inspired many others. Though just like Kenshin the animation isn't as good as it once was.

9. Now and Then, Here and There: A truly thought provoking, unappreciated anime, that has more relivince to modern times than Evangelion or RahXephon.

10. RahXephon: What Evangelion could haven been, but failed to achieve.

300 Wins

Congratulations to Tom Glavine!!!!!:D:D

Tom Glavine tonight got 300 wins with the New York Mets, truly becoming one of the best pitchers in history. I am really happy he did it with the Mets, which I've said a few months ago is my favorite team. In my opinion hits harder to to get 300 wins than 3,000 hits or 500 home runs, because you have to rely on not just you self but your other team mates to score runs and defense.

Update

It's been almost two weeks since my last blog. Nothing much going on right now. My brother came to visit. I bought the entire series of Dark Angle, which is a great series which FOX really shouldn't had canceled. Haven't seen much anime, just waiting for more episodes of Romeo X Juliet, Heroic Age and Kaze no Stigma. Though I did download the entire series of IGPX, just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I did go see The Bourne Ultimatum which is a great action franchise, the best much better than Die Hard, Lethal Weapons and all the others. You can see my review on FilmSpot. That's it for now.

Top 10 TV Shows and Top 5 Manga

Nothing much going on. Looking to purchase a used car and waiting for my brother to come visit. So I thought of two lists of my top 10 TV shows of all time and Top 5 manga.

Top 10 TV SHOWS

1. M*A*S*H*: This show aired before I was born and ended when I was a kid. Hell I didn't even start watching it until about 10 years ago. It's by far the best television show and comedy I've seen. They manage to blend comedy and drama perfectly in the back drop of the Korean War. Comedy shows like M*A*S*H*, Cheers, Night Court are what comedy shows should be like today. Actually funny, great mix of comedy and drama, and no laugh track to hide all the crappy jokes.

2. Monty Pythons Flying Circus: This show and the films are just hilarious. I remember sneaking downstairs with my brother every Sunday night at 12am to watch it on PBS. They ran they show in America if I remember correctly. I loved it, it was so different from America comedy at the time.

3. Homicide: Life on the Street: I know most people would chose NYPD Blue or the Law and Order Shows. For me though Homicide was it for cop shows. First it took place someplace other than a major city. It took place in Baltimore, a city but by no means a major city. It had great characters/actors much better than the other two formention shows. The best part it went out at the right time and ended great.

4. The Wonder Years: I watched this show as a kid and loved it, I recently watched it again and still love it. A show that took place in the 60s and was another show that blended comedy and drama perfectly.

5. Farscape: Farsacpe is the best Sci-fi TV show I've seen. I still wish the Sci-Fi Channel hadn't have canceled it instead of getting rid of the bad Stargate SG1 or creating Stargate Alantis. They could have used that money to keep the show going. The story was pretty original, the characters were awesome, and the special effects were good, not great with the limited budget. Still Farscape is a breath of fresh air to the endless mediocre Star Trek shows and the bad Stargate shows.

6. Cheers: Cheers is another show I watched as a kid and loved. I don't know why since it primarily takes place in a bar. For some reason I just loved it. Sam, Dian, Norm, Woody and the gang were wonderful characters. The only thing that kept it from being higher was that it stayed on for a year to long. The last year didn't have bad episodes they were just ok, and that was bad for Cheers, but the last episode was great.

7. Night Court: As you can tell I haven't liked to many shows from the last fifteen years. Don't worry, there are three coming up behind Night Court. Well anyway Night Court is like cheers, it primarily takes place in Night Court as you can gather from the title. Yet another show I liked as a kid for some reason even though it took place in a court house. I haven't watched this show in ten years, I'm going to have to by the DVDs or download the series.

8. Roswell: Yes I admit I loved this show. It's not something I freely admit to people, but this show got to me. It had a unique concept, about aliens living among us. Sure they were all hot looking teenagers, to draw in the younger viewers. Stil it had wonderful scrpts, good characters/acting. It's a pity it aired on UPN/WB, if it had aird on the major networks it might have lasted longer.

9. Scrubs: The best comedy in the last fifteen years since the old ****cs ended. It blends comedy, drama and fantasy wonderfully like M*A*SH*. It also has no laugh track like all the other crappy comedies that air today. The comedy is brilliant, the actors are great and the stories are amazing. If you want to check out a real comedy watch this show, especially the season coming up will most likely be it's last.

10: CSI: The original show is the best. The best drama I've seen since Homicide. I admit I didn't start watching the show until last year when one of my coworkers recommended I check it out. I thought it would be like endless Law and Order shows. I was wrong, it was far better. It had a great concept, the show didn't take place in the usual cities like NY, Boston, LA, Chicago or Miami. They placed it in Las Vegas which was a great idea. The characters/actors were great, and have evolved great of the series. The stories started out a great and are stil good even though they occasionally re-run a story line. I only hope they end the series either in a season or two before it ends up like NYPD Blue, Law and Order or other shows that go down hill fast once they use up all they story lines they can.

Top 5 MANGA

1. Rurouni Kenshin: Rurouni Kenshin is without a doubt the best manga I've read so far. The story of Kenshin Himura the wondering swordsman searching for atonement is amazing. Everyone who has view my profile and seen my top 10 anime knows how I fell about the anime, and the manga is better. This manga is a must for everyone.

2. Berserk( On going ): I loved the anime and started reading the manga. It has a great story about a wandering swordsman. Not one looking for atonement, but vengeance. The only issue I have with it is like Inuyasha, it's going on forever. Right now I think it's on Volume 37. I love the manga, but come on start wrapping things up already.

3. Ai Yori Aoshi( On going ): Like Berserk it's still ongoing, but I at least know it's going to end at voloume 21. Ai Yori Aoshi is the best romance manga I've read and anime I've seen. Unlike other romance manga that choice to go the over the top comedy way this one is a romantic drama with some comedy. That way it gives a more serious tone and your're more invested with the characters.

4. Kare Kano: Another romance manga I loved, just a step down from Ai Yori Aoshi. It's a romance/drama manga, but has more comedy in it. A anime series was based off of it called His and Her Circumstances. It was decent but lacked the heart the manga did and ended to soon becasue the manga was still on going. A side question, why do animation studios make anime based off manga when usually the manga isn't even have way done when the make the anime. That just doesn't make sense, and the reason why the manga is usually better than the anime based off it.

5. Rebirth( On going): Let me say first this isn't a Japanese manga, it's a Korean manga. It's a vampire series following a vampire who fell in love with a human, she's murdered by his best friend and he's killed. He's brought back to life a few hundred years later and goes on a journey seeking revenge. I know I'm not giving a good description, but it's a great manga and I definitely recommend it.

NEWs

Nothing much is going on right now in my life. Just going to and from work, and hanging out with my friends. My brother is coming to visit on my birthday July 27th. He's officially out of the Navy, and hasn't decided what he's going to do with his life. I think he wants to stay in Japan, he loves it there, even one of his friends from High School is living in the city of Kyoto. The problem is how he's going to do that now that the navy isn't going to pay for him to stay there anymore. Now on to other stuff. I haven't been watching tv at all recently. I'm beginning to hate it more and more. I don't want to offend they younger generation or anything, but it's your fault, I'd like to call it the ADD generation of tv. I've stopped watching cable all together. The Cartoon Network is terrible now, now where near it's hay day 10 years ago. Other channels I've watched like USA and Sci-fi have one or two half way good shows, but I'll just wait to by it on DVD or download them. The History channel has sold out to the ADD generation. They used to have the best programs on tv, where you could actually learn something. The Discovery Channel is still a good channel, but it's turning to reality shows to try and get the younger views attention. I've already called Comcast and told them to give me just Limited Basic, it's just ABC , PBS, FOX, CW, DISCOVERY, and AMC. That's all I need, PBS is still has some of the best shows to watch, AMC is still good even though their playing some bad movies like Catwoman, and basically the only two shows I still watch(CSI and Scrubs) are on these channels.

So I've more time to check out some other anime like DARKER THAN BLACK and TOWARD THE TERRA. Both are still are going, but didn't catch my attention. I watched the first 8 episodes of Darker than Black and the first 5 of Toward the Terra. I'll just wait till they end and then try to watch them again. I just stick with the three animes I'm watching now, Romeo X Juliet, Herioc Age, and Kaze no Stigma. I also am reading a book called WAR and PEACE AND WAR: THE RISE AND FALL OF EMPIRES by Peter Turchin. It's a pretty good book, it goes into details on how empires come to power, are there common Links, and how they fall and the common links. I also came up with a few lists I'll be adding to my blog here's the first one.

TOP 10 MOVIES AND WORST 5 MOVIES OF ALL TIME

TOP 10

1. The Seven Samurai

2. The Bridge On The River Kwai

3. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

4. Alien

5. 2001: The Space Odyssey

6. The Great Escape

7. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

8. Tora! Tora! Tora!

9. 2010: The Year We Make Contact

10. The French Connection

Worst 5

1. Battlefield Earth

2. The Island of Dr. Moreau

3. Hudson Hawk

4. Van Hellsing

5. Alien VS Predator

The Seven Samurai is the best movie I've ever seen. It still holds up after all this time. The Bridge On the River Kwai is the best war movie I've seen, the actors are amazing and so is the story. Alien the must see in Sci-fi/horror moives. I wish they would make horror movies like Alien again that actually tried to scare you instead of making me want to rip throw up and kill my self. The Empire Strikes Back, the best of all the Star Wars films. I've seen it about 100 times in my life. I used to know the lines by heart. 2010, I know many people who would disagree with mean on this film. For some reason I loved it. It had the same feel as 2001, with great actors and a great story. The French Connection, simply the quintessential action/drama movie. Before Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and the Bourn movies. You might notice no movie from the past 20 years made my list. Just like television, movies also have gone down the drain recently, it may be because studios make more of them so there's more crap.

Now on to the worst 5. Battlefield Earth is the absolute worst movie I've seen. I really don't know what I was thinking when I paid to see it. I walked out of it about half way through and saw the rest of it on tv. These are all movies I've walked out of. The Island fo Dr. Moreau look intresting when it came out, so I checked it out. Boy was I wrong. The story was terrible, the acting sucked. I walked out about half way through. Hudson Hawk I never saw in the theater. I rented it because it had Bruce Willis in it, and I liked his movies. I really don't know what he was thinking when he made this piece of crap. It's so bad it makes you laugh. Next up is Van Hellsing. The story was terrible, the acting was even worse and the special effects were the worst. I walked out about three quarters of the way through. Finally Alien vs Predator. This movie movie could have been so much better. It disgraces the names of Alien and Predator, and I don't even consider this movie part of those franchises.

TRANFORMERs!

TRANSFORMERS ROCKS!!!

Ok I had to get that off my chest. While Die Hard I gave 5 stars and was the best movie I'd seen all summer, if I were to make a list of the 100 greatest movies ever it wouldn't make the top 75. TRANSFORMERS on the other hand is one of the best movies I've seen, I'd put it in my top 50.

Let me first say I wasn't even going to see it, I thought it would be terrible. I grew up watching TRANSFORMERS, I've seen every episode and between my older brother and I we came very close to owning every toy, I just loved Soundwave, The Constructicons, Jazz, Mirage, Thundercracker, and Shockwave. I'm sorry I'm digressing to my childhood. Well anyway I wasn't going to see it, I thought at most I'd it's be a 3 star movie another average Michale Bay action movie. Then it got pretty good reviews, but I still hesitated. Finally I got a e-mail from my brother in Japan who saw it. He absolutly loved it, and to me to see it. The movie was amazing, 5 stars all the way through. The acting and story were actually good, the special effects were fantastic, I actually believed the humans were talking to the giant robots. Optimus Prime looked awesome and whoever played his voice did great. Also I loved Starscream even though you didn't get to see him that much, and the end seeing him fly away. On a side note the lady Megan Fox is hot. Man I hope they make another one.

TRANSFORMERS ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Manga vs Anime

I recently finished reading volumes 1-13 of Fullmetal Alchemist manga, and I was pretty disappointed in it. Most people know I loved the anime and think it's the best anime to date, so I was expecting the manga to be just as good. I think this is a first, a anime that's better than the manga, the only other anime I think was better than the manga would be Basilisk. The manga was only five volumes long, while the anime was 24 episodes long so it broaden the story, but back to FMA.

I gave the anime a 10, while I'd give the manga a 7. I had many problems with it, the story, the characters and the overall feel of the manga. While reading the manga I just didn't care who lived or died, the characters I didn't care about. Also the manga didn't go as in depth as the anime. Here are a couple of examples. First the Shou Tucker arc of the story in the manga is limited to about 30 pages and doesn't go indepth to add feel to the characters, and I just didn't care while in the anime they did giving rich sceans for the characters and story. The second thing was Lieutenant Colonel Hughes. In the anime he was one of my favorite characters and had a big impact on Ed and Al, and was in the anime more. I don't want to give to much away for people who haven't watched the anime or read the manga. Back to Hughes, in the manga he was in the manga for maybe 1 volume and he had no impact. Then there are all the back stories of the characters like Colonel Mustang. In the anime they go into his back ground to the Isbal war and how he killed Winry's parents, which adds drama and emotion to both the characters, while the manga doesn't. I could go on but that would take to long. There are things I liked about the manga like Ed and Al's father plays a major different role from the anime, I liked that. Also Winry has I think a bigger role in the manga than she did in the anime, that was nice. I think that's the only things I liked better than the aniem.

Overall the manga was a let down, I just didn't care about the story and the characters as I did with the anime. Mabye if I read the manga first, but I don't think that's it. I watched Rurouni Kenshin, Beserk, Ai Yori Aoshi, Chrono Crusade, Love Hina, Kare Kano, and Suzuka anime first before I read the mangas. But in each of those cases I liked the manga much more. This really is a first for me, again Fullmetal Alchemist manga is good it's just not on the same level as the anime.
