I bought an open-box powercolor 6850 1GB from Newegg, and I installed it today. I have a 500W powersupply, and the 6-pin is plugged in.

Now I have some questions:

I downloaded GPU-Z and it says my GPU Temp is over 100C while playing the BF3 Beta, is this safe?

I occasionally see some horizontal lines, not in the game but when browsing the web or on the desktop. Is this a faulty graphics card? I know it was open box so i can return it within 30 days if its not good.

Thanks!

amd's 6850's only require 450W and are only a bit cheaper than 6790s, with rebates you can get them for $140 at newegg.com. Also, the 6850 only requires 1 6pin power connector while the 460 requires two.

Does anyone have any experience with EVGA's B-stock? I am thinking of getting a GPU from there and was wondering if there was anything i should be warned about.

Alright since everyone is arguing about power supplies and whatnot, i have a 500W power supply, which is from my understanding enough to run a 6870, and definitely a 460.

hm, why 460 over 6850? From what ive seen the 6850 beats it.

Also, 6870s are dropping in price, leaning towards them... with the rebate, this one is only 145 and comes with deus ex hr
