UPS just delivered (around 10am on the east coast of the US) my copy of the CE, I thought I wasn't getting it until around 5 tonight so that was a pleasant surprise. I was trying to figure out how I was going to kill time until it arrived today, since I have the day off from work. So I'm installing right now. I figure I'll play solo till I feel relatively comfortable then try and meet up with some people for co-op. I just don't like rushing through, so hopefully some of you on here might want to come along that have similar feelings! Like a few people already mentioned I skipped the beta and most news because I wanted to enjoy a fresh un-biased game the first time around.

3.03ghz ended up unstable. Right now I'm at 3.02ghz. I'm going to see how that goes. Temps are still below 55c, *crosses fingers. I think so far so good. Stock is 2.6ghz so I'm pretty happy :Dydnarrewop
Have you run Prime95 or Intel Burn Test to check the stability of the OC?

If you're only using it for games I wouldn't expect to see a massive difference. CPU intensive tasks should be a sizeable difference though.

[QUOTE="achilles614"] 150 after rebate for 180gb ssd hell yeah :) I'll post back here with how it is.Truth_Hurts_U
Hate dealing with rebates. But yeah, if you get em they are great. I would print it out a head of time since it ends today. I don't know if Newegg takes them off the site or not.

Even without the rebate it's one heck of a deal for an Intel Cherryville. The 240 gb version is like $340 last I looked.

you'd kinda rely on the fact that it sits correctly because of the way it locks to the mobo... anyway, i might try re-seating it. it only has the silicone paste that was pre-applied to the stock cooler. is that enough, or am i supposed to use more of it? i wouldn't like to get another cooler if the chip is faulty. it should stay below 70C even with stock cooler, right?

groowagon

No, do not add any more paste to it. If anything, you should clean what's there off, and then apply new paste (as Blistrax mentioned). And yes, it should stay well under 70c. I have a 2700k that idles about 27-29c and hits load around 40c or so (granted I have an aftermarket cooler not the stock). Even with the stock cooler, you really shouldn't be anywhere near 70c. As others have mentioned, it seems that the cooler is not seated right.

The reason why I chose the first one. When you actually upgrade the GPU down the road you're looking at a 20-65FPS difference between the CPUs. Since more games are putting better use on the CPU. But as of right now that 7550 isn't going to run current games very well. The GTX560 gets at least 20-40 more FPS.

It's really hard to pick one for you. I'd probably go withRyviusARC choice since I am not even sure if down the road you're going to be into computers as much or gaming on them. So as of right now RyviusARC choice would offer the best gaming solution but down the road mine would benefit you more and last longer.

Spend more get the best of both worlds...

All true but I don't see the TC going with a gpu upgrade down the road if this is how he's looking for a new computer. I'd have to throw in for the first one because it's an easier way for him to go given his inexperience with computers. He'll get the most out of that system without having to try and figure out how to upgrade (which obviously also includes spending more money). However, having said that, the one you posted would be a great way to go if he can spend more money later and wants to attempt swapping out a card (and TC, it's pretty easy to do once you get over the initial apprehension may people have when they do it for the first time).

Intel one.

GTR12

Ditto. When I was buying one last fall I had the same type of post on here looking for advice. Pretty much everyone advised me to go with Intel for quality and reliability. I bought a 510 120gb model and couldn't be happier with it. (although my non-rational need to upgrade has me looking to get a higher capacity 520 series one lol). I can tell you the 510 is plenty fast, although it wasn't quite as fast as a few other models at the time, and the 520 series has the new Sandforce controller which has really improved the speed.
