Giving away Tropico 5 for free on PS Plus was a wise move because it introduced us to the game and created future customers. My friends and I are now hyped for Tropico 6 and bought the Tropico 5 DLC.

I would love them to add a map editor so we can make our own user maps similar to the Far Cry 4 terrain shaping tools and texture painting. The DLC's were expensive and only had one map each, apart from the 2 expansions which had 3. It would create a very strong community for the franchise. The dev could still make money on it if they allowed the DLC textures and rock formation assets to be used on the custom maps. A user map could state that you cannot instal the map because it requires DLC x, y, and z. That would make the DLC a more valuable purchase if it was a gateway to hundreds of user maps for free.

They had 2 types of living house in Tropico 5. A cheap house and a more up market house.

Sony are way too severe with their HDCP implementation to the point that the legal customers have to suffer as a result. That should never happen. Ever. I often have screen blackouts when playing games because the PS4 has momentarily lost a handshake connection due to the console too busy, resulting in the console blacking out my screen for several second in mid action. It's like Sony are saying I am not allowed to view this content because I'm not authorised. Bullcrap.

It looks like if the console goes a few minutes without a handshake confirmation, it blacks out the screen because Sony can't bear to think you are viewing content illegally for more than a few minutes. If the console is busy due to Sony's fault, the period of authentication should be extended to 15 minutes or more and allow for several tries before it blacks out the screen. Blacking out the screen is a very nasty thing to do and should only be done if you're 100% sure a crime is being committed.

I suffered a similar issue with Sky TV when it first launch. It used to scramble the image using crude analogue distortion, then unscramble it when you were authorised with a subscription. But the process ruined the image quality with a slight blur, so I ended up with free channels on satellite looking far higher quality than the Sly TV I was paying for.

Sky TV eventually fixed that problem with a purely digital method, but I never returned to them after that. Valid customers should never have to suffer just so a company can employ anti piracy protection. The customer rules and is the companies most important asset.

If the Destiny 2 issue is related to HDCP along with the screen blackout thing, Sony should disable the HDCP and give everyone free access until they can find a method that does not impact the legal customers in any way.

Most system crashes are due to a memory clash that just locks the system in a state of confusion that it cannot recover from with no way to proceed, so it may be that something in Destiny 2 occationally accesses the same memory register used by the HDCP handshake implementation.

It was a good game, but you're comparing it to one of the best games ever made. There really is no comparison. Skyrim inspired changes that gave rise to a lot of the stuff we see in games today. It goes down in history along with The Last Of Us.

Think logically. If every game was crap on a certain console then the console would be at fault. But that is not the case here.

We have games doing similar stuff performing great on PS4 Pro, and we have Bethesda's stuff looking really clunky with dreadful performance. The exception being Fallout 4 on PS4 Pro which is great because they went the extra mile.

That points the finger at Bethesda for not doing the required work to make it happen. They are responsible for any studios under their wing. Bethesda are PC based so they produce brute force code (the brute force Cryengine in this case) and expect the PC gamer to pay for an upgrade to make it work.

But the console is a closed system with fixed hardware so that option does not exist. Devs need to supply more than just basic brute force PC code when selling to the console market. Devs have to use efficient optimised code on console, but that takes time and money, especially if it's an off the self game engine that the devs don't have the expertise to re-code.

If a dev does not think it's worth the effort to code for console, they should not release on console. Prey in its current form should never have been released on console. It's brute force PC code designed for PC, not console.

Prey is a Cryengine success on PC, but a complete failure on console.

What? So it's PS4's fault for being a low price console that is not as powerful as an expensive PC.

The PS4 is what it is for a specific market, and games need to be made to suit it if the dev wants to sell to those customers. Bethesda want the sale without putting in the code optimisation work.

It's no good selling a bluray movie to a DVD player owner and saying you should have bought a bluray player. You are basically saying the DVD player is at fault. The film company has the deliver the right product to the right market if it wants the sale, otherwise it's false advertising.

Bethesda struggle to make a game that is relatively bug free on any platform, never mind craft a game using smart coding to maximise the console hardware.

Bethesda build games like their building computer software, relying on a constant stream of updates to fix bug issues over a long period. That works for software used on a daily basis because it's better late than never when the fix arrrives. But for gaming media the dev only has one shot to get it right because most gamers play the game directly after purchase at launch and never go back to it, so updates that arrives a year late are useless. A day one patch is okay because it's corrected at release before people can play it.

Console devs are far more disciplined and focus on getting it right first time, because they come from a time when consoles didn't have internet access for updates so the game had to ship in perfect condition on disc or cartridge. Bethesda are PC at heart which has always had internet access, so they rely far too heavily on updates, long after release to fix their mistakes.

Yes but there is a big 'if' before your statement is can be viewed as true. You assume "Fixes to address" is the the same as "Fixes to eliminate." Let's get independent verification before we count our chickens because this dev plays fast and loose with the truth.

Yes long loading screens are a bummer, but I'm prepared to wait if it's quality. But when you get input lag, stutter and screen tear after the long wait on PS4 Pro, then it's just not worth it. The game is bust.

No intelligent person is claiming Prey is not a good game. It just plays crap on a PS4 Pro because it's constructed using lame brute force PC code. On the PS4 Pro it's a broken game that is not fun to play.

It does not matter how good the gameplay is, if it's broken and not fun to play, then it's no good.

If the input lag, stuttering and screen tear are truly gone on the PS4 version without gimping something else, then I will buy this game because I was looking forward to playing it. But as it stands right now, until I hear confirmation from an independent source, this game remains a joke. "Fixes to address" is not the same as "Fixes to eliminate."

The game goes down in history as a perfect example of a greedy PC dev wanting to suck on the lucrative console cash cow by creating brute force PC code that simply overloads the console with no code optimisation.

Let's hope they can turn it around. No Man's Sky turned it around by putting in the extra work, so nothing is impossible if you have the will. The sad thing is these devs rush the games out thinking console gamers will accept half built broken games. They try it on and get punished. Better late than never does not apply to games because people play the game they bought at release, not 12 months later.

The dev assumed console gamers were stupid with lower expectations because they are not part of the PC master race elite. The first game update stated they had removed the input lag by reducing the dead zone on the controller joystick. Pure bull. No code optimisation, just faster to push the joystick from A to B. That told us what kind of dev they were. Bluff merchants who insult the intelligence of console gamers.

When you destroy your credibility, it takes a lot of work to get it back. It takes years to gain respect, but you can blow it in an instant.
