Folklore's SIXAXIS implementation is nothing but something to do. Like they were searching for a reason to use it and created one, rather than it naturally being there. and even then, it's just a jerk of the controller.

Dreams-Visions

Nah... the latest demo shows a couple other ways to rip it out, such as having to bash it on the ground a few times or what have you. My point though, was that basing the motion sensing should play smaller parts... such as capturing folks, or using the after-touch in Heavenly Sword... rather than being the main control scheme of a game. I'm more than happy to have a 'traditional' control scheme supplemented with a few sixaxis uses, rather than having the sixaxis be the basis for the whole game.

these next two quotes are from the same person

"The game does play awesome with standard controls. But you lose certain abilities like doing 180s and such. Stuff that specifically requires motion. "

"Well, after more play (I'm on the 7th stage) I can honestly say this is the best implementation of SixAxis motion controls ever. I'm very, very used to it. And I actually think LAIR is a very good game once you give the controls some time."

Afrikanxl

Huh.... I don't think I'd quite say it's the best implementation (it works better playing a smaller role, ala Folklore imo), but they do work pretty well.

I hate it when people can't admit that a game is bad... people on the lair forum are sticking up for this game like crazy "The Sixaxis just takes some geting used too!" "If you can drive a car, you can play Lair" "I played the whole game and loved it! No problems at all!" sad...dudeman102

And... I guess I'm one of those sad people? I don't think this is a bad game at all. Sure, I had problems with it, it's not perfect by far... but it's still fun, maybe 7.5 - 8.
The people I have problems with are the ones who say "Lol Lair sucks! Look at that review!" Without having played it for themselves. Seriously.... say it flopped, or the reviewer didn't like the game... but it's an opinion after all, regardless of the score.

[QUOTE="JustPlainLucas"]Well, I played the first level, and unless this game gets really bad really fast, it doesn't seem 4.5 to me.Krazy_duck

Controls aren't annoying?

Well so far, its nothing that I don't think I can't the hang of. But again, Ive only done the first level.

Well according to IGN it aight until you hit some sort of bridge in level 5 (ironically)

Which is odd... you have to lock onto stuff before the bridge level (level 4 actually, sorry to ruin the irony :P), it isn't really harder than usual unless you're trying to lock on before you're close enough to do anything to the rhinos anyway.

One thing we can agree on is that this is the best looking game ever and easily beats Crysis and makes Gears look like a jokeWuTangG

Ok... if you're being serious... just stop. This game does look awesome, but it doesn't 'easily beat Crysis', or beat it at all for that matter.

Another game that makes the Warhawk's floptastic 8.5 look like an AAA game to the starving PS3 fanboys.MrEpyx
Uhh... ok. 8.5 is AA right? Warhawk was hyped AA right? Ooooookay.

I still think I'll try it. If it's controls that are the problem, it could vary in quality between people.Kekira

I say go for it if you're interested. After you put a little time into it it's really not that bad at all. Simple turning (Go right!) wasn't a problem for me from the beginning, but stuff like the 180 degree turn takes a little practice - the movement is similar to the 'dash' movement, so every now and then I'll still dash when I meant to 180 or vice-versa.
Overall it's a pretty decent game I'd say. Not great, but pretty decent.

[QUOTE="Tylendal"]You know, under Gamespots old system, this would have scored much higher. A 10 for graphics would have pulled it up a lot.WuTangG

Umm with horrible Framerates. There is no way it would've scored a 10 in graphics.

The game looks better than Crysis and the framerate isnt that bad

The framerate isn't that bad, no... I haven't really noticed it 'chugging' or anything at all... but no, Lair does not look better than Crysis, stop kidding yourself.

[QUOTE="jwmakoto"][QUOTE="mwa"]LMAO this is beyond floppage, this is pure obliterationmwa

No joke... this game got shredded all over the place. I bought it this morning too...

ouch how is it?

Honestly... and hopefully this doesn't come off as sounding fanboy-ish, although I'm sure some people will take it that way... I like it a lot. I spent half an hour on the training missions getting used to the controls, and it's been pretty much smooth sailing from there, on to about level 9 where I'm at now. Yes, there are a few small problems.... but I don't think it deserves a 4.5
Now.... do I think Gamespot/IGN/pretty much every other site is bias? No. I just disagree with one point in their reviews, which is that the controls are the big detracting factor. With some practice, they work just fine.
