@diskotheque i am pretty sure Amazon will make their own bundles and they would be stupid not to make a Watch Dogs Bundle as soon as the console is out :)
Gears sucks... and i was basically forced to play all of them because a friend of mine wouldn stop beggin me to play coop with him.
but Judgement was the game that i just could not finish. its so bad OMG how the hell can you make a boring game even more boring? well the dev team behind Judgement did it -_-
i was like WHooT THA FAAAKKK as i watched the first trailer and suddenly the freakin camera turned and you could see that those gusys are rendered in 3D O_o
its not about length alone. I played through Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes 6 times in 1 day when i first bought it.
and guess how long it took me to finish it 6 times!? it took me about 10h! and thats because it took me about 3-4h for the first playthrough.
nowadays i could play through the game 6 times in 6h... BUT GUESS WHAT! it would still be fun, because everytime you play you get better, and you will start to try to speedrun certain parts of the game... and if youre good enough you will try a full speedrun.
its fun to get better in that game... and most modern games dont give you that feeling of getting better, because modern singleplayer games are streamlined for casual players and almost everything is scripted and context sensitive so you really cant get better in those games, its always the same no matter how often you play it.
@balaysked @kabalzer0 i liked it the one time i played it... so ya you could say i like it but i have no intention to play it again soon... maybe in a couple of years.
i mean its like with a movie. you watch it and you'll probably watch it again some time but its very rare that you say to yourself "OH MY! i totally wanna watch that movie again... tomorrow!"
and the same goes for games like Uncharted, at least for me.
A good game has to be highly replayable... i mean imagine a board game like Monopoly being as linear and dull that its only fun once! everyone would resell such Board Games... now is there a used board games market? not really! because the creators of those games think about how to make them as much fun as possible to play again and again.
Most modern games dont have that replay value. i mean how many of you played through Uncharted 2 more than once? i am sure some have but if i ask how many who played Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3 or Mario World more than once i bet that a WAY higher percentage of SMB/SMW players played those games twice, three times or even more than those who played Uncharted 2.
Wanna know why? because you cant get better in Uncharted 2, half of the actions you do are context sensitive or scripted. the Gunplay is super basic and there is not much to enhance skillwise so you have less motivation to replay it.
Lets look at a more recent game, Vanquish. the story is forgettable, the gameplay seems pretty basic but the Leveldesign in cooperation with the easy to get into, yet hard to master gameplay make for a game thats fun to replay multiple times. why? because everytime you play it you can master the levels better and better. you try a different way to move forward, you use different weapons for different enemies and you figure out the best way to get through the level and maximize your score.
THATS a game, Uncharted 2 has more elements of a Movie than it should have imo.
Its great to have cinematic cut scenes and some scripted events here and there but Uncharted 2 has way to much scripted things going on an most of the jumping and climbing is context sensitive so you do not really have the controll over them, its more like a QTE and less like actual gameplay in those sections.
a game that shows that you can combine Games with Movies in a cinematic way while leaving the gameplay more open and interesting is Metal Gear Solid.
Within its cutscenes its like a Movie... with some of those even coming close to a feature length Film xD !BUT! as soon as you have the control back it really leaves you choices and gameplay you can master over time. you can approach every situation differently and you can get better and better in every mission.
you can call a game with a replay value over one with no replay value by just doing 1 thing: skip the cutscenes and see if it is still fun. if thats the case you probably will replay it at least once! if not... its a good rental if well done, and thats the case with Uncharted 2 imo. its fun for a single playthrough but thats it.
