Just a got a 40gb ps3 and for Xmas one of my games is going to be assassins creed. I got a few questions though before I ask for it

1. People say when they start, they get the patch. If your not connected online can you get the patch? Currently I have no way to connect my ps3 to the internet

2. Is all you do collect flags? I read GS review and they said otherwise but I see alot about where the flags are. What role do they play
