[QUOTE="kaigh"][QUOTE="xhellcatx"][QUOTE="kaigh"]Iraq is in the middle of a civil war. No country should be involved in another country's civil war. There should be U.N. peace keepers if need be. But bring back the soldiers! They deserve the break and they do a job not a lot of people are willing to do.xhellcatx
Um...well we sorta tore down all that they knew. O_o If we left now, they would surely be over taken. We are responsible for them right now until they get on their own two feet. And they are getting there. It takes time. Doesnt happen over night. And yes, the troops do work real hard. I agree. But our job is not finished. The majority of the troops down there say they want to finish what they started. Doesnt that tell you something?

But the job is Fubar. I've read articles where soldiers have said they don't know who they are fighting anymore. There is no job to be finished. The 'strategy' was and is non-existent. The soldiers bear no responsibility, it is the Bush Administration that has to answer for this mess. You make some good points and in a way the U.S. should stay in Iraq to clean up the mess. Use the 'Diplomats'! There are hundreds of them and they know how to talk to different factions. I'm not gonna say, though I did say, that we should take all the soldiers and leave Iraq. I'm saying that the U.S. army's function there could be more special ops instead of attraction for I.E.D.'s .:)

I dont know what news articles you are reading, but most likely propoganda. I am a military spouce, and kinda get first hand information that no press recieves. I know what our guys are doing. Yea after they do it, but I still got the picture. They KNOW what they are fighting for. They are fighting to give people another chance at a better life. And we actually are coming up with new technologies against IEDs, and like i said previously, the attack rate is down by 40%. .....That is A SIGNIFICANT change if you ask anyone out there..and anyone with a family member out there. Heck 5 % is good...as long as its declining and not increasing. The surge is working reguardless of what you read or have read. But I am going to leave the argument at this, because now you decide if I am credible and know what im talking about or you decide to keep going against me. Ive said what I have to say, and trust me, I know my troops. I live with them, and talk with them, and they are my brothers (and sisters) in law in my eyes. My husband talks to me as often as he can and he knows what hes there to do. Their moral is very high right now.

I'm not against you.  In my earlier post I stated that the soldiers do a tough job that not many people would do.  If I read propaganda, you hear it, because next to organized religion, the army takes second in brainwashing.  This is not a bad thing.  In the army you need everyone thinking about the goal and what needs to be accomplished.  My opinion is just as valid as any other's out there.  That's great news that they reduced I.E.D.'s by 40%!  My question is why are they roaming the streets of Iraq?  Shouldn't they be bunkered down until they are needed?  Or are scouting and recon missions absolutely crucial to this fight?  If you have info, that would be appreciated.  I'm not going to attack you for your position in this war.  Moral is high, that's good.  Maybe the Iraqi civil war will taper off due to U.S. presence.  Cool.  The one thing I'm all for is getting these few and courageous men out of Iraq safe and with a sense of some accomplishment.  I personally think they (troops) did wonders there, given the incompetent leadership of Donald Rumsfield and his cronies.  Good luck to you and your family and I hope for them a safe return, they deserve it.

If we pulled out right now, Iraq would most certainly descend into civil war. Don't go ranting on about "Oh Iraq is already in a civil war!!!" Im talking about a major civil war, artillery duels, mass battles, siege of major cities, you know, like a miniature world war. Right now, we, and the Middle East cannot afford a major war right now. If that happened, Oil prices would certainly skyrocket. If that happened, There would be major repercussions on the world's economy.

Iraq is simply too strategically important to descend into chaos.

So, then it is not in chaos.  Great!

Media will always try to scare you!  Boo!  They have a remarkable track record of making people fear the 'possible'.  Oh, btw, I was not ranting.  My ranting is distinguishable by snark and severe righteous anger.  Here's what I think, and it's just as valid as the talking heads media points are:  The Iraq Civil War will stay in Iraq.  Saudi Arabia and Iran and Jordan and Syria and Palestine and Israel have no desire to get into another country's civil war.  Why?  Because it's not their problem.  Iraq doesn't control all the oil in the world and the U.S. government just uses the war to keep oil prices up, but the last one is my opinion.

One more thing, Iraqi insurgents get a lot of their weapons from Saudi Arabia and the America.  Tough sledding all around.

I'm going to take a well aimed shot in the dark and say that the people who posted that the Xbox is dead have a 360.

I enjoy being proven wrong.

The fact that I do post on here makes me less geeky. I have and will play Dungeons and Dragons (yes, the pencil, dice, and paper one) I spend time either reading the news on the 'Intertubes' or playing videogames. I also collect Transformers (toy line) even the new ones. I think they're cool.:)

People have and will express opinions in the 'off-topic' forum, this is the 'norm'. What would you like to see in the off topic forum? One word answers?  Because like you said, you're just staring at a screen, whether it be filled with someone's opinion or a one word answer.

I recommend that you don't read long posts. I go through that phase, where I can't be bothered to read huge chunks of written word at one sitting.  I skip them. I don't begrudge people that make these posts as obviously they had something to say, and whether it is relevant to you or not, is irrelevant. What is important is that the forum members, within the forum rules, have the right to post, again within guidelines, whatever they want. The mods seem to take care of anything that might offend or is simply against house regulations. So, now you are staring at the screen, what does it say?

The question really is: can a machine die?  If we play the system, does it not work?  When we can't afford the next-gen model, is it not adequate?  If Xbox is dying, it is also partially living.
