Paper Mario: Almost to 3rd star

So I'm almost to the third star in Paper Mario (I think.) I just made heavy-weight in the arena with the help of the baby yoshi which I have unoriginally named Yoshman haha. That little dude rocks though for just barely being out of the egg. I hope that I will get all the attention that the current champion gets after I finish working my way up through the ranks and pummel him good! This game is growing on me.

Midnight Rants 9-22

As part of my job sometimes I work night shift for a few nights in a row. In order to prepare for my first night shift I always try to stay up all night the night before. Normally I get a lot of gaming done during these prep nights, which is good for getting games I want to beat out of the way. I figured I could also start tracking my all nighters here in the blog. Tonight I am playing paper mario. At this point I am about 9 hours in. Normally for me that means I'm really only about 7 hours into the actual game play because I spend a lot of time running around doing sidequests and talking to every single character in town haha. Ok back to the game. Lates!

Shaffer FTW!!

w00t I won both of my fantasy football games this weekend. Hats off to Antonio Bryant and LaDainian Tomlinson for being my two high scorers!

49ers beat the Rams!!

I went to the first 49er home game today and watched the niners beat the rams 20 - 13. I tailgated before and met some cool german guys when I offered them a burger, this was their first American football game. The crowd was really energized which always feels great when your there cheering along with them. It was a fun time.

Im getting a PS3!!!!

My fiance spilled the beans on my early X-mas present. She is going to camp out with one of her friends for 2 days at best buy in order to get me a PS3 on release day! Isn't she the greatest? A hint to all guys, getting something nice for your girl on her birthday has its rewards!!

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (First Impressions)

I am about 30minutes into the game and already upset at the thought of putting the controler down. The introduction of the characters, story line, and first couple of baddies has already created a colorful world of fun and trouble. Despite the lack of voice overs the characters have all "sounded" different so far with how their speech appears on the screen. The most entertaining has been the ditzy, blonde, Goombella. I am excited already about where the story and characters are going to take me.

Bring NFL 2K Series back!

I had an opportunity to play Madden '07 for the Xbox 360 and I was left scratching my head at the end product, especially for an EA release. I was disgusted at the frame rate issues and the between play visuals. There was a couple times where the camera seemed to be pointed at a fan wall with the top of the fan torsos cut off and nothing interesting on the wall. Aside from the visual problems EA took out the fantasy draft for the new gen consoles. Why take out a feature that fans love and look foward to from season to season in the real world and season to season for their in-game franchise? Being a business graduate I have a theory. They are trying to lose market share. Is it possible that EA is about to scrap the Madden series and go with a new product? For fans of Madden games that I know personally EA has succeded. I don't think they will be buying the next game in the series if there is one. As for me, I have never bought a Madden game since I experienced the NFL 2k games. The last one, ESPN 2K5, still finds its way into my PS2 at the start of every football season when I get the bug to play and draft my players. I really hope they bring the series back at the end of the EA exclusive rights contract with the NFL. Until then I will refuse to buy Madden games simply because there isn't anything else. Also, if they really are trying to shed market share by releasing a poorly finished game then I feel bad for the people that spent 60+ dollars for the new Gen version.

Shadow of the Colossus

Out of all the games in my collection this one is my favorite to go back and play from time to time. If you have not given SoTC a try yet I highly recommend it. Most games I play will not spark the sharing bug in me.  I will silently play and keep my comments and opinions to myself.  SoTC however made me want to jump up and tell the world.  In fact, after my very first encounter with a Colossi I ran straight to my computer to tell my sister to drop everything and run to blockbuster. It could be because gamespot didn't give it that high of a review, or it could have been because I was just lucky and stumbled across the game and was afriad no one else was going to be lucky enough to share in my treasure. But I think it was just the fact that I never new taking down a skyscraper sized boss could be so exhilerating. In any case if this blog has sparked your interest then check out the gamespot review and then give the game a try...you won't be dissapointed.
