Well I wouldn't call it exactly retro, its not about that. But there is a LOT of modern games that I go through like a breeze even on a high difficulty settings, I don't say its no fun, its just that I haven't really ground my teeth on any game for quite a while now ...

And I cant finish one race in the 2nd round in Wipeout HD, geez, it was a long time since I was struggling with a game that much. Not to mention getting all golds, which is really tough.

The learning curve of BIONIC commando was about 3h (although I played the original for a long time when I was a kid) but it was 3 h of frustration and screaming NOOOOOOOO : )

I know its a PS3 part of the forum but I just remembered having similar experience with Halo3 on higher difficulty settings. Some parts where almost unplayable.

ps. and I'm talking only about core single player portions of the games, almost every game is hardcore when you play with a pro online.

Had Wii, after finishing most of good games (imo of course) sold it. Wipeout HD is a proper definition of a great game with new and fresh controls (the same with motorstorm). I was expecting the same from PURE, unfortunately they messed it up :-/ wankers !

Those two games are extremely difficult to master and very intimidating through most of the learning curve (which is steep as hell). I do consider mastering those titles a modern definition of being a hardcore gamer !

What do you think ? Which games should be added to that kind of list ? (only titles that will make your teeth grind ]:-> and occasionally make you cry or scream in rage after you lost being slammed with 3 rockets in a row 2 meters before the finish line after 5 minutes of fighting for the 1st place :P )

If you consider yourself hardcore and like the hi-tech vibe and extreme difficulty, thats for you. If not, well ...

I'll be honest, I bought the game cause it says its got motion sensing. I've played so many similar games that the only thing that can freshen up the formula for me is the 6axis support ... BUT

It only works for the frikn jumps mid-air control, I mean wtf ? and wheres the driving control ? Motion control is useless in that game and I AM disappointed and Ill return the game tomorrow.

Don't get me wrong, PURE is a great game, but Im fed up with the same stuff for years and I wanted something fresh, like motion sensing in WIPEOUT HD which ROCKS ! : ) ...

They should describe what the motion sensing is used for on the cover to avoid such mistakes :/

I hope youre right guys. Yeah there always were special characters like ogre or devil, but they were banned at the tournament etc. and projectiles of yoshi and alike were bonded with their style. Now it seems like anyone can shoot stuff (like Xiaou throwing pink hearts ? wtf ? i mean srlsy :/ ).

I can already see ppl overuse it (like sometimes when your playing against devil, sometimes its annoying, but that was one character, not every). Im afraid that they may want to throw Tekken to the masses with buttonmashing tactics ... hope thats not their goal.

On the other hand I was worried about SCIV which turned up surprisingly well. I hope that Namco will deliver and not let the true fans down.

I just watched the trailer for the new Tekken 6 : Bloodline Rebellion and to be honest Im horrified. Why ? Tekken series was always known for its straight forward, deep and complex fighting mechanics that've set a line between typical arcade titles like Street Fighter and a more complex and realistic (if you can call it that) fighting without any projectiles, fire balls, kamehamehas what so ever. So what the f* are those projectiles doing in that trailer ????? Im horrified, now you can use your equipment as a weapon ? What kind of game is that going to be ? And those Street Fighterirsh projectiles ... what the hell ? Whats going to happen to Tekken ? :(
