The only new MMO's out right now are Warhammer Online and Age of Conan.

Age of Conan is an awesome game for the first 21 levels, but once you leave the starting area the game kind of falls apart and feels unfinished. Funcom has fixed most of the performance issues but there is a serious lack of end game content once you hit level 80... Crafting is non existent due to the poor choices Funcom made and there really is no player economy, there is some major class imbalances that Funcom has a hard time fixing, they usually make a class to over powered or they nerf them to uselessness, I guess there is no middle ground with Funcom. But the Combat is a blast and the graphics are awesome if you have a decent gaming rig.

Warhammer Online was awesome when it came out and there were lots of people to do the PQ's and Quests with, but now the game has been out for a few months the Tier 1 & 2 areas are pretty much empty which makes doing PQ's past stage 1 pretty much impossible. Crafting is useless and there economy sucks, but thats typical of loot centric MMO's... Problem I have with Warhammer in Tier 4 is the game-play is very repetitive and boring. And a lot of the content is dependent on having other players to play with, so if the population is low the night you want to play, your not going to have much fun.

Right now I'm catching up on my single player games like Mass Effect and Fallout 3, since there's really no quality MMO's out right now... My sights are set on Star Wars: The Old Republic, just hope Bioware gets it done soon :)

have you seen the gametrailer's hd review? there's a link in the op if you haven't. i thought the graphics didn't look that good as well UNTIL i saw that review.fireandcloud

Ok after watching that I'll say I'm more impressed then the other videos that I saw... Graphics still look little blocky but overall pretty sweet looking game.... I'll definitely be getting it when it comes to the PC, plus you know user mods will take care of the extra clothing at the strip clubs :)

I haven't really been paying attention to GTA4. I've never actually played a GTA game yet, and GTA3, VC, and SA have always looked like the typical port type of games. However, enough people here seem to like them on the PC, as well, so I do want to give them a try someday. As of right now, though, GTA4 isn't something I'm keeping my eye on. Even with Mass Effect, it's a game where I'm like "Yeah, it'll probably be pretty good and stuff... So, how 'bout that Dawn of War 2?"JP_Russell

If you decide to try out the GTA games, Steam has a special right now where you can get all the GTA games in the series for $29, can't go wrong at that price...

[QUOTE="JP_Russell"]"Excited" would be an overstatement for any of them, but I guess Mass Effect is the one I'm anticipating the most.fireandcloud

really? i guess you're not a gta fan? i'm not either (i like them generally, but i'm not going to write home about them), but the buzz and the tremendous reviews are quite intoxicating. no?

GTA is a cool franchise but its getting a little long in the tooth, not to mention the graphics look a little on the blocky side... You would think for a next generation console game they would of done a better job in the graphics department...

Definitely Mass Effect... BioWare is one of the few companies that actually takes the time to port a game over properly for the PC... Unlike Ubisofts Assassins Creed, BioWare is putting in the effort to redo the controls to take advantage of the keyboard/mouse.

I think if Ubisoft would of actually taken the time to redo the controls to take advantage of the keyboard/mouse Assassins Creed would of been a bigger success... It's just stupid you have to try and hold down multiple buttons on the mouse and keyboard in order to do things... you got a whole keyboard there is no reason for combo keys/buttons in order to do actions...

one of my main hesitations about vangaurd though is the population... can anyone tell me how the population is in this game?
phone_tools

I would visit Vanguards Forums and ask which servers are most populated.... One thing that kind of bites about Vanguard is XP is based on doing quests, at first you'll be able to solo them but they get harder as you get past lvl 20 and usually need to find some help, problem is everyone has already done the quests so it will be hard to find people to help you do them since they don't get anything out of it...

If you really want to try Vanguard see if you can find a trial offer or a buddy pass from someone who bought it, If I remember right I think there actually going to relaunch Vanguard sometime soon, being the first time it launched the game wasnt completed.... If it was me I would just wait for Age of Conan, I can't imagine it being worse then Vanguard...

Actually LOTRO is not considered a flop, its done pretty well for itself... Vanguard on the other hand was a bust big time.. Even tho I played Monk all the way to level 50... The game was released with only 50% of its content done.. Theres really no story arc or much Lore to it... I had fun playing it but it was mostly because of the people in my Guild, if I had to play the game solo I would of quit after level 10....

If you liked WoW i would recommend LOTOR, but if you want some different then I would wait another month and try Age of Conan which comes out May 20... Don't know if its going to be a hit, but the videos I've seen of the game play look really good and the combat is done differently from other MMO's...

[QUOTE="Flaming_Spoon"]I agree, Orange Box defiantly... you get the most for your money, not to mention that the games it comes with are all amazingly fun and entertaining. Dont get UT3... that is the last thing you want to get, kind of a let down to me... no-one plays online, and the story mode isn't that greatDivergeUnify
Yeah, UT3 could be a lot better but the community is so ****ing small and no one ever talks

The game has been done to death, they need to change it up... I find it funny that the Developer is blaming poor sales on Piracy and not the fact that this game is basically no different then UT2004 and the ones before it...

I've been thinking of getting a 360 to play this and a couple of other games exclusive to the system tbh. I'd rather just be able to grab it for the PC though, yeah.

bulby_g

I wouldn't, just for the fact that the 360 has a faulty design (RROD).... I bought 4 Xbox's when they first came out, one for me and the others for my 3 nephews, everyone of them has failed and two of my nephews are on the 4th 360... After mine RROD for the 3rd time I got it fixed and sold it on Craigslist and used the money to buy a PS3 for Blu-ray movies...

Besides pretty much every game that comes out on the 360 will also show up on the PC.... There to easy to port over for developers not to do it... I figure the PC will get GTA4 in about 6 months..
