Stalker has some scary parts in it... Especially in the underground areas with mutated humans, the sound is perfect, you can hear metal doors creaking and debris falling around you, definitely play late at night with 5.1 speakers... guarantee to give you a few nightmares :)

And that is that I'm very, very surprised how good the game is. Now I'll tell you that I am primarily a RTS kind of guy but I do dabble in the odd FPS and RPG once in a while. See, I purchased Stalker about a year ago and after getting my butt handed to me in the beginning I kinda laid it aside. Then recently after being annoyed with the experiences of CoD4 (Still don't understand why everyone praises the game) and our favorite tech-demo Crysis, I decided to pop it in and give it another try. Low and behold I'm addicted to the game. Sure, there are some problems with the game but I can easily look past them for the experience. There is however some things I wish could be changed, such as the fact that somehow an enemy on the other side of the room with a shotgun will take me down with one blast, the AI in certain areas that you are helping defend an area just stand still and take every bullet without shooting back or dodging, and the fact the AI always seems to know where I am and have dead-on accuracy when I'm creeping around a corner.

Other then those gripes, I find it very enjoyable. The weapons feels realistic and the atmosphere is great.

Now I'm wondering, did anyone else have a similar experience as I or did you love the game when you first started playing it? Or did you hate it for the same reasons or different reasons as I did?

I got addicted to it also.. Just finished the game today and tried out 3 different endings... My only gripe with the game is there are huge gaps in the story arc, it almost seems that the game was rushed out with only 70% of the content done... I'm still confused about the story.... Also, there are very few side missions, after you complete them they just start repeating again. Just seems like the game world is pretty huge for such a short game which leads me to the conclusion above that it was released before being done...

The underground combat was nice and creepy, scared myself a few times playing with 5.1 speakers late at night.... Probably the most fun was the assassination missions, also fun to walk up behind a guy with a pistol that has a silencer on it, nice and quiet like :)

Steam has a good price on it, so its worth the money..
