Ok but now we are getting into Speciliaty clicks. yes video editing is better on a Mac. However, much of everythig else is better on a PC. Better compatibility is HUGE for a PC, newer technology, better gaming, better support, cheaper support.

How much do you Mac sheep pay for your Applecare?? Like 400 dollars? Dell is free for a year. Weird though since Apple NEVER has problems why does it even need a Apple care plan.

Anyways there is no arguing you get less for your money with a PC. Now if you want to get into the Video Editing/Gaming Clicks as the ONLY reason to buy either machine thats fine. However, for the average consumer they are getting jipped when buying a MAC.

For 800 bucks you could get an x360, ps3, and wii to go with your Better Asus laptop

Applecare scales with the product, it ranges from $150 up to thousands depending on the product they all have a year warranty anyway. AppleCare supports the software as well, so that's an added bonus. I work in IT. If I call Toshiba for support, once you mention Windows, or any software, that's it, no help. They tell you to bring the machine into a service centre. AppleCare will walk you through Apple software (OS, iLife, everything the machine ships with) If you're stuck and you don't know what you're doing.

Hardware wise, yes you get more in a PC. But you can't call people sheep over their choice, there's a lot more to it than that.

[QUOTE="DonPerian"] True. The starting point for the computer is $2700, mine ended up costing me around $8000. If I were to buy all parts from Apple, it would've been close to $12,000. [QUOTE="PlayaInDaHood"] thanks [QUOTE="Dynafrom"] Really? My Core i7, triple GTX 280's, 12GB DDR3, 3x WD Raptor 10K RPM drives drives your pro down to the ground 10x over. thefsmlol

Maybe from a gaming standpoint (who the hell would game on a Mac. anyways), but let's see your computer render footage from three RED cameras while simultaneously splicing it with 5Dmk2 1080p 30fps video running off four monitors.

Do you know nothing about computers? He has an i7 ffs! Apple will not sell you a computer with an i7 in it yet

You cannot compare a whitebox system no matter what the specs to a workstation like the Mac Pro. If you're running Final Cut / Avid, you have some AJA cards in there, you CANNOT use a whitebox machine. How do you service it? Where are you going to get drivers for it? Tech support when your raid card isn't working, all of that costs money. You need an onsite warranty when things crap out. Not a trip to the local OEM shop with a fried Motherboard that you cannot get anymore.

As a gaming system, yes the PC is better bang for buck. But the Mac Pro as a workstation has excellent value (providing you don't buy Apple Ram and HDD's)

Macs for the same hardware ARE more expensive for what you get:

Macbook:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834100038

Asus:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220412

The Asus has a better Graphics Card, Harddrive, More Ram, and better resolution. The MAC is 800 dollars more. What on earth is that?? Vista isn't THAT horrible. OSX isn't worth 800 dollars more then Vista I'll tell you that.

The 17" is notorious for being expensive.

The Asus is heavier, does not have firewire 400 or 800 that I can tell. No OSX, not sure about the warranty, but I have no clue how Asus machines get serviced.

It may not be worth it for you, but for some people OSX IS worth $800. And if you're editing video on the go, and you don't have FW800, or even 400, that notebook is useless.

I love my Macs.

They work better than any PC I have ever owned, I game on them all the time (when I'm on the road anyway), and if they cost a little more, big deal.

Don't buy one then, and leave the rest of us alone. We all know they're more expensive than a comparable PC.

For me, time equals money, and I have NEVER reinstalled, formatted, done any software maintenance whatsoever in 5 years. I just keep migrating my drives to the new machine and I'm done. On my PC which I rarely use, it's always one hassle after another.

[QUOTE="kerpal_cz"]The 360 is more hardcore than PS3. Just look at Halo for startersAlexSays
Are you saying Halo is a hardcore series? I just want to be sure of this.

I am.

People that I know that play Halo religiously are incredible. I think it has a hardcore following, not just the numbers, but the way they play it. Do you disagree?

Internet tax.

Some countries charge per GB, so if there are large images in a post, sometimes you get a 56k at the end of the year and you have to write it off etc. Especially if you're browsing the web through work.

I don't really care about single palyer...

The last single player experience I really enjoyed was COD4. I just hate playing against AI, it seems a waste of time. You know you're going to win, so what's the point. At least in multiplayer there's a challenge, and you really do what you can to win.

I don't see the big deal, this isn't anything new.

Doesn't matter what community you play online with, you're going to get trash talked. It's just more prevalent on live coz everyone and their grandmother have a mic.
