The people complaining about anon and /b/ just sound more retarded than they claim anon to be.

Seriously your arguement is the same backwards logic as a redneck hill-billy fox news watcher claiming all muslims are terrorists and are members of Al Qaeda.

Everyone and anyone here can claim to be a member of anon or /b/, it's not some masterminded terrorist network or anything lol.

Just because a few guys go out and blow themselves and others up they apparently repersent a whole religion? just because a few guys go and hack something they repersent a whole group? Even when the majority of others in religion and group don't act that way? See the failure in logic your using?

The funny thing is it's more likely that they had nothing to do with PSN going down this time but Sony decided to blame them and use them as a scapegoat anyway.

HGAT

Then you proceed with the similar conspiracy type theory talk we hear which sounds synonymous with the "US govt planned 9/11 but are just blaming it on al qeada as scapegoats. Hello Pot, meet Kettle.

By the way your example is off. Anon is to Hackers as Al qeada is to Islam/Muslims.

Love them or hate them, they are proving an important point. Sony is here because of people like us, without us they are nothing. But somewhere in the game, people forget that WE are their customer. They need to provide us with what we want. Somewhere along the road here people just sat back and let them not only charge us for everything, but also control what they are charging us for. Corporations in general have us cornered, and nobody has the courage to stand up to them. Although I'm a little ticked about the network being down....kudos Anonymous. We pay the bills, we should be able to do what we want when we purchase the hardware/software. I know I'm going to hear about 6,000 different arguments back on this, but you get the point. Its the principal of it all.

RoboDuckii

That's not how it works. Just because you bought a product of someone doesn't give you "rights" to influence their business. Lets bring it down to basics, lets pretend this is a medieval period and you go and buy a wonderfully made sword from a grand master blacksmith. What is the blacksmith selling you? A sword, and nothing else - he's not going to give you the blueprints to how it made the sword and he's not going to show you how to make it. Because that's not in his interests, he can't run a business like that. And Sony can't run a business by allowing people to do whatever they want with a product THEY designed and are trying to make a profit from.

It's their machine, it's their design - they made it and produced it. You bought with the indication that you would use it for personal commercial use via purchasing software for it. They did not make it for you to hack to **** to do whatever you want with it. It's not your intellectual property, it's Sony's.

But in terms of TECHNOLOGY, technology it isnt like a sword product. You're always getting to get developers with intentions to modify, and thats what technology is about. Take ure sword example, what if that customer was a blacksmith? Could he modify his newly bought sword? He should be able to cos its his. Its like saying to someone, ill give u this canvas, now ill tell u what to paint on it. Stop thinking about normal products, think about it in terms of computing and technology, developers are always going to move it on and innovate, big technology firms should go back to basics of computing and stop hindering hackers, just for the money.

Hindering hackers?

Now tell me. this technology being invented by companies through painstaking R&D "just for money". Without them these hackers would be hacking what? wood?

Hacking is a learning process and anyone who can do it should try it. But posting the information to the world when you know the end effect is to hurt the buttom-line of the manufacturers and the experience of other purchasers of the system is just a dangerous behaviour. Actions should be taken to dissuade such nonsense.

Remember these companies have to make some profit so you can have your PS4 in a few years. Geo Hotz will not invent a new hardware for you or will he create an API for developers to work on it.

M$ still hasn't learnt that its predatory monopolistic behavior is illegal.

3picuri3

and you haven't learned that being predatory has nothing to do with a monopoly. picking random adjectives ftl lol.

that said, i'm all for open accesories on 360 ---- BUT, if you want to curse anyone, curse Apple. they set legal precedent with proprietary hardware. if microsoft uses a proprietary connection or 'interface' patent then Datel is SOL and wasting their time. Apple set precedent for prop interface restrictions years ago.. but who knows, the US doesn't rely on it's case law as much as we do in the great white north.

If you do not understand the phrase "a predatory monopoly". I guess you slept through English class. A dictionary will help you in this case.

[QUOTE="Brownesque"] Oh please, one accessory is software, the other is hardware. There is no fundamental difference, there isn't even a functional difference. Microsoft is TRYING to monopolize the use of products on their platform. Is it their platform? Yes, it's their platform, and you'd all DAMN well remember that when you consider buying one of their products, but that doesn't mean this is good for the industry, good for those manufacturers, or good for ANY consumer on the market. All of you, particularly 360 owners, should be seething hatred over their decision to lock out EXISTING third party memory cards many of you may already have. You've already got one sole wireless controller manufacturer (Microsoft), one sole wi-fi adapter manufacturer, one component cable manufacturer, one charge cable manufacturer, one wired and wireless headset manufacturer, one hard drive manufacturer, and one TV remote manufacturer. I might have painted a few monopolies that don't exist, but that's really besides the point. Nearly every piece of hardware you own associated with an Xbox is Microsoft made. Wanna know how many people come in on a regular basis with faulty 360 headsets? There's a reason for that. Oh, can I get a new headset? Um....how about that Microsoft headset. Wow, I've had 3 of these break already.....um.....how about a wireless headset? Oh, the only one you got is Microsoft brand? Um....okay.Doctor-McNinja
The flawed reasoning behind this logic; they are not monopolising the memory card 'market'. You can get as many memory cards for as many different machines from as many manufactures as there are in existance. They are not monopolising a market, they are controlling which companies they want selling products for THEIR platform. And if they dont want Datel selling products for their platform, they dont have to give them a license to do so. Madcatz make plenty of products under license for the 360. If this indeed goes to court, i imagine microsoft need only present their reasons for only allowing a small number of third party manufacturers; because they lost billions and need to MAKE MONEY by selling their own products, rather than licensing other companies to do it instead. That is not a monopoly.

That is the essence of an antitrust suit. They are not in a position to have that sort of control.

you can decide to not give out specifications for creating peripherals. Not lock dem out because they made own a console.

Even Sony knows that, they used mostly standard specs for addons this gen.

[QUOTE="Doctor-McNinja"]Um, it's not a monopoly when it's THEIR console. People love to throw around the term 'monopoly' when criticising microsoft, yet few ever back it up. They're not monopolizing their own product. If they dont want other companies making products for it that's up to them. BMW stop other companies making mods for their cars, that's not illegal. They dont want you screwing with their stuff. Brownesque
Go see the anti-trust litigation regarding Microsoft packaging Windows software in with their operating system.... The government evidently has a different view of "monopolizing" than you do.

They got slapped with over a billion $ in fines. I guess some of you would also argue that Windows is their operating system, so they can wake up tomorrow and lock some company hardware out. They can decide to not license Datel products, they cannot lock them out. If Datel acted illegally M$ would have sued.

Maybe some of us are just tired of these games with a bobbing gun on the screen.
