Thanks for everyone's help. i'm going to Best Buy tomorrow and hopefully resolve this nightmare. Why couldn't Microsoft have just made a quality product in the first place? I mean of all organizations they have ALL the resources!

so could I go to the store now even though I've filled out the information on the web? They said they would send me an e-mail with a shipping label and I've YET to receive the label and I filled out the request last night!

The Best Buy replacement warranty is actually pretty good for the 360, but you have to go to the store to get the full effect. If you call the number, they're gonna send you the shipping label, etc. like you had happen to you. If you go into the store, the store will call the phone number themselves to get the RMA number so they can send it back, but they will give you your replacement right then. Long story short, goto the store, don't call in.

As for the part about buying the new warranty, you don't have to buy a new replacement plan until the manufacturers warranty runs out. So after your first year (360 warranty is still 1 year, it's only 3 years for RRoD), if you used your replacement, the warranty is fulfilled and you're able to buy a new plan if you want.

Do I have to mail in my system though? Also, will they be able to know that I've already filed a claim?

[QUOTE="kickthecann82"]I bought an Xbox 360 in Dec of 2006 from Best Buy and bought their extended 2 year warranty. I finally received the 3 red lights on Saturday night. I have my voucher and went to the website to file a claim. They said they will e-mail me a shipping label to send my 360 to them. They said they will send me a gift card when they receive my 360. I thought if I had this warranty I could just take it back to the store. Evidently I thought wrong. Is this a one time cash-in warranty like EB games? Also, what about my hard drive? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!SentryGunner411

My impression when i got the Best Buy warranty is that it was redeemable for 2 years no matter how many times you had to return the product. This is the reason I got the warranty in the first place. I'm on my fourth 360... one I exchanged the warranty at EB (which I should've learned the first time not to buy a disposable warranty) the other 2 I mailed into Microsoft.
Best Buy warranties suck. I took my 360 back yesterday because the disk drive was making noise. They said it wasn't a repairable item and they would give me a new 360, but I would have to repurchase the extended warranty if I wanted it on the new 360. So I told them well just give me my money back. (most other stores transferee their warranties if they have to replace the product, so I figured if I'm going to have to re-buy the warranty I would do it at a place that wouldn't pull this crap on me.) Well gold old Best Buy said they could only give me in store credit, so I ended up getting another 360 from them. The good thing is it came with Froza2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance and it hasthe HDMI like the Halo Edition and the Elite and was built last month. BTW it runs a heck of a lot cooler than my old 360. I figured today I would call Best Buy's head office andgripe a bit and see if they can do something for that the local store wouldn't do.bcrich959

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25988080&tag=recent_topics;title;0 I don't post much, but I read the forums quite frequently. I notice that everyone complains about having to pay for live. I actually own both systems (PS3 & Xbox 360), and I would rather pay to have an enjoyable experience, than to have to wait for 10 minutes to find a game. Thoughts......?

I think others are just like me. TIRED OF THE HYPE! Especially if Halo 3 is going to be as buggy as Halo 2 was. There are little kids that cheat and shouldn't even be playing the game according to the ratings system. Mommy and daddy go out and buylittle JohnnyHalo so they don't have to interact with him. As long as little Johnny doesn't botherthem that's all that matters! I also think it's funny a little kid telling you to suck their di.. When you can tell they haven't even reached puberty yet. Last time I checked it was rated M (which means Mature 17+).

I really enjoyed playing Halo 2 until there were so many cheaters, it was just ridiculous to play. The only time Halo 2 gets playing time with me now is when my friends and I have a LAN party. I played the Halo 3 beta twice and honestly it wasn't that great. I know it was a beta and I will definitely purchase Halo 3, but I won't play the multiplayer as much as I've played Rainbow Six Vegas. I also agree that it did look better than Halo 2, but I believe it could look better. Just a little rant on this forum, which might answer questions ofwhy some people don't like Halo 3.

people that hate halo just arnt good at it! If i sucked at a popular game i would hate on it too. Your not gonna win a match and say to yourself gee that was so over rated!

Another big shocker comment "halo 3 looks like a shinier version of halo 2"....this is stupid on sooo many levels. If that all you got on it your gonna have to keep trying.

p.s. to all the haters........your missing out!

I had a bad experience as well...I'm on my 3rd 360. These systems have flaws and microsoft hasn't owned up or found the problem yet. Here's the short story....I bought a launch day 360 from EB and got the in store warranty. 360 died in June and I got a BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT FROM EB. Week of thanksgiving mine died again. I didn't get another warranty b/c I figured they were fixed. So I called tech support and I even had my RECEIPT from the launch day console I purchased (u know where microsoft said they would repair consoles manufactured in 2005 for free). Anyway they still wanted to charge me $140 so I haggled with the guy on the phone and he got it down to $104, which is still a rip off for a flawed system. Then he said now you need to ship your 360 to us. I said O NO! I am NOT paying $104 and having to spend another $20-$30 to ship it to you. I told him to let me speak to his supervisor 45 minutes later they said they will send me a box for me to ship it to them...so that is a false statement that they aren't doing that anymore. I understand that they are trying to save money, by making the consumer SHIP it AND they make at LEAST $100 on every console without a warranty to receive a refurbished unit, which means it is going to die again. To avoid this WHEN U PURCHASE YOUR CONSOLE GET A WARRANTY!!!!!! Microsoft should've taken their time on this system and made sure the hardware wasn't a failure which it obviously is. I have been a gamer for 20 years and have NEVER dealt with consumer relations this poor. Microsoft needs to step up to the plate and if there are OBVIOUS hardware failures and not an "accidental damage" then they should repair the system for free. By the way it took 3 weeks for the whole process which was a trying 3 weeks b/c I play games every night. I've read a LOT of forums over the past 3 weeks and I've wondered how Microsoft keeps getting away with this and it's no secret: WE"RE LETTING THEM!
