I have been a member of gamespot for a few years. While I have not been active all of those years I however did come to find answers to questions I may have had, just like everyone else.
So when I ask a question like I have 50 bucks which would be the better game out of the two given. This thread should not be locked because it "should" be in a recommendations thread. And recently I have found out I am not the only one thinking low of the recommendations thread.
They should clean the recommendations thread up or get rid of it. What is the point if it is not going to fulfill it's purpose.
1. When someone askes a question, it will get buried by other questions right after it.
2. Who wants to sit and read through pages and pages upon pages.
Sign your name below if you agree that something should be done with the Recommendations Thread.
I have personally had threads locked because someone thought that it should be in the Recommendations thread or some other thread. But why should I have to read through 50 pages to find an answer.
[QUOTE="elusive1991"]i have the fat ps3 and after about 20mins of gaming the fans go insane and really loud... whats goin on? =(MonkeySpot
Most likely you have some fuzz or dust build-up which is blocking the ventilation, so the fans are working over-time. Take a vacuum and suck out the ports all around your console and see if that helps at all... You'd be amazed how much pet hair and such gets drawn into it.
The other thing I have to say here is that solid-state electronics benefit from keeping the components at a constant temp. The heating up and cooling off of said components is what causes them to "wear out". In the audio biz, there is a school of thought which advocates leaving a unit powered up all the time, cutting down on the wear of the various parts.
Here's a linky about solid state electronics and how they are built, which may shed some light on the subject for you.

I leave my PS3 on, and online, all the time. I am careful to vacuum it out, but I have had no trouble and it's been on for a few years now, 24/7. There is no danger of fire or the like (presuming proper ventilation is observed). Underwriters Labratories is a not-for-profit consumer testing organization which puts products through extreme conditions to see if the product is safe and reliable... More info can be found on their website.

I hope some of this is useful in allaying your concerns about leaving your console on!

Please let me know if any further information is required! I'm a professional sound engineer (got a band? Need an album cut?) so I have lots of resources and 25 years of experience in electronics, acoustics, and the like.
