@livedreamplay: In fact that's quite true. Marketing tricks us in thinking that we really need something that we might not. Some people exaggerate the enjoyment just to feel good that they play the game that was hyped by the media. It makes them feel that they bought a 'legendary' game and they enjoy telling others that they have played it, even than in reality it was really not that exciting at all. In some ways we ARE lying to ourselves. I played all the uncharted games with my brother and I really find them a bit lacking in terms of gameplay experience. The hype indeed helps to overcome the true feeling of emptiness that many modern game bring. Again, nothing personal, just an opinion.
@dashaka: My problem with these games is that you finish them in 5 hours and that's it, maybe less. I don't think it's worth a full AAA title price. I am not saying it's bad, but I'll wait to get it for much less, certainly not worth a full price. Very little replay value. Just saying, don't get it personally, it's not about you, it's my opinion about the game. Cheers.
Damn people, can't you understand it's all marketing stuff, you are being played. How many lives do you need to stop being naive. The other Uncharted games were super boring, it's half a game half a movie. I pass this game without thinking twice.
@RSM-HQ: I agree. No personality whatsoever. Overwatch is exactly the opposite, in a positive way of course. They were so smart giving the stage to the heroes and focus on creating emotionally triggering characters. That's what Blizzard are well known for, so I am not surprised.
I think that Battleborn might die in a year and a half, while Overwatch will be here for many years to come. I already hear about people having problems finding players to play with.
Just a few notes
Overwatch Pros
- Overwatch has better looking character with lots of personality
- The main core is shooting and that's what Overwatch is focused on and does best
- I like the use of elevation and map design, compared to the MOBA-type ones. This by itself requires team planning and strategic planning,
Overwatch Cons
- Simplicity works wonders for shooters, although MMOish elements are a trend now in FPS games and that's something that is missing in Overwatch
- Lack a good in-depth progression system, Battleborn is much better in that regard and has lots of depth
- Both games can be e-sports, but for some reasons Blizzard failed to make it games popular in the e-sport scene
Both games require team work, and in order to get the most of it you better team up with friends. Battleborn is more strategically focused because it's a moba type of game, so it's crucial there to form a team. I played DOTA 2 and it's just a complete mass if you play with a random group.
I love FPS games, and that's why I am sure that I going to love Overwatch. I love the short matches, and it's a better game for casual gameplay where you just want to login and have some fun on your spare time. It's less punishing and doesn't require a teamwork in order to just enjoy it, whether in Battleborn it a bit frustrating if people just don't know what to do and the team as a whole can't achieve the objectives.
Overwatch is a MP game. I don't see that as a negative thing at all, because I think that most FPS players prefer playing against others. That being said, it would have been nice to be able to get more emotionally attached to the characters buy playing in a campaign mode, but Blizzard going to release videos that will do that job in some way.
I haven't decided which one I prefer. I think that maybe it's time to play something different for a chance, because after all, a shooter like Overwatch doesn't really bring anything new to the table, while Battleborn is. Therefore I think that people who tried both betas will have easier time to decide which one is the one for them. Others, will just need to choose based on reviews, twitch streams and people's opinions.
By the way, I find Overwatch to be much more enjoyable to watch on streams. And as we can see from the streams numbers, Overwatch is going to be MUCH more popular than Battleborn, and this means that it will have a much longer shelf life, which is very important for multiplayer games.
