does everyone agree with Cyborg-21?  I would like some more opinions from other people just so that I am completely sure.

well if that spec runs games the way you say they do I would be very very happy as I dont play enough PC games to really splash out on a good PC but this spec certainly seems very good especially since my monitor only goes up to 1024 x 768 and I am perfecty happy with those settings, thanks for your help

You think? give me a few examples of how it would run some games, e.g. Battlefield 2142, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, F.E.A.R etc.

for a long time now I have been deciding on what new computer i should get for a low price and what i have came up with is this for £400

Intel Pentium D 915 Dual Core (2.8GHz,4MB Cache, 800MHz)

Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

Mini-Tower Micro ATX Case +250W PSU - Black

ASUS P5B-TMX PCI-Express Mainboard - Pentium D/Core 2 Duo - Micro ATX

1024MB DDR2 533MHz Memory - (2x512MB)

250GB Seriel ATA Hard Drive with 16MB Buffer

Super Format SONY 18xDual Layer DVD Writer +R/-R/RW/RAM

512MB DDR2 nVIDIA GeForce 7300GS - TV out- DVI - PCIe (256Mb SMA)

5.1 High Deifnition 6 Channel Audio Codec (on-board)

Is this spec any good for running the latest games on at least medium settings? please help before I order. e.g. how well would this spec run Battlefield 2142?

Ok I have had a look at the Athlon x2 processors and I came up with this new spec for the same price, is it better than the Intel spec?

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000 (2.1 Ghz)

1024mb RAM memory

256mb Geforce 7900GS

give me a few examples on how this will run certain games, e.g. F.E.A.R, Battlefield 2142 or World of Warcraft. By the way my current pc spec is;

Intel Celeron D (2.88 Ghz)

512mb RAM memory

128mb Nvidia Geforce FX 5200

as you can probably tell from the spec I really do need a new PC to play newer games, will I notice muc difference between my current PC and the AMD or Pentium one I am thinking of getting?

I am looking to buy a new PC so that I can run newer games at descent quality, I don't have alot of money to spend on a new computer so I looked at a website called www.pcspecialist.co.uk were it lets you choose custom parts for your pc, they build it for you and send it out. I have about £500-£600 to spend and I was wondering if this spec is any any good for running todays games and if it will last me a good 5 years or so;

Intel Pentium 4 (3.2 Ghz)

1024mb RAM memory

256mb Geforce 7900GS

all other parts like the sound card and stuff is standard and I chose a 500W cooling fan, is this a descent spec? it will cost me £549, also another question, which is the better processor for running games? Intel Pentium 4 (3.2 Ghz) or Intel Pentium D 820 (2x 2.8 Ghz)?
