I'm just mad it's a Sony/PC exclusive. I was an original Dreamcast Shenmue gamer, and the last thing I wanted to do when Sega went down was to jump onto the Sony platform, so naturally, Microsoft got my money. I've been with Xbox ever since. I know that's all just me having fanboy nonsense, but now I'm ready 18 years later to finish my Shenmue and now I gotta get a Playstation or a PC rig, not gonna happen. Oh well, at least Xbox is finally getting Yakuza after all these years.
Each generation it's getting harder and harder to tell the difference. I mean with PS4 Pro you've already got 4K (which I can barely tell the difference from 1080p unless the screen is huge) and lots of games running at 60fps etc. I'm an X1X owner and I already know I'm holding off from Scarlett for at least a year or two, maybe more. I think if Sony wants a fast leap this time, they're gonna be in for a rude awakening.
He's right about ratings not being so relevant. I hardly know anyone who watches anything on cable anymore, it's all Netflix and Hulu and so forth. I haven't watched the show from cable since like season 2.
This is starting to remind me of mid-90s Sega. In the span of just a few years we got Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, all while Genesis was still going strong. Any gamers in their 30s may remember how that turned out.
If this new machine requires all new games without playing the PS4 titles, I don't really see this performing well against Scorpio (or PS4 Pro for that matter).
"With that in mind, we spec’d out components that will deliver an excellent 1080p gaming experience for around $750."
That one line right there sums up why consoles are still going strong. Now we have PS4 Pro and soon Scorpio for 4K gaming and it's still more affordable.
Seeing Myst on the list is a big turn-off. Definitely one of the most over-rated gimmicky games of all time. "ooo pretty pre-rendered pictures, I like this game ..." I guess it was influential, not in any positive way.
