Today, just about 5 minutes ago, me and my roommate has defeated the so-called beast, that is Halo 2. My impressions for this game were high, considering I never played the first Halo, only seeing it played about three months ago. So this was my first experience, with this franchise. Halo 2 was not bad, better than I expected in some parts, confusing in others, and sometimes just down right confusing; how did some of the parts of this story pass the guys in charge(The huge plant, what's that about)? Anyways, we didn't play much of the Multiplayer mode; only about two or three rounds, instead we picked up the co-op campaign mode for the challenge of reviewing Halo 2.
The overall story was not that bad as some might believe, it just left out a lot of detail and didn't really fill in the gaps needed for the story to work. The Arbitor missions were a little bland, making it just a basic slug fest with the flood. Master Chief's parts were about the only good stuff. Sometimes the A.I. was cheap and smart; sometimes it was just plain stupid, standing in place, until you attacked it, leaving the A.I. wide-open for double-teams and so-called "sneak" attacks. Not bad with the boss battles through out the game, even with the battle with the main Brute at the end was challenging (man that hammer hurts!!). But after defeating him, the game is all of a sudden over? They didn't tell you that they were saving the ending of Halo 2 for when Halo 3 comes out, did they, no!! Overall the campaign wasn't bad, just average for a FPS.
Overall this game is better than the original, but still needing improvement, in my opinion, to be in elite status; other than that, its still plain jane to me!!
Score: 8/10.
There has been some kind of wall that has been blocking me from a vety popular game, that I have never experienced hands on; only watched and admired. The game is Halo, for the Xbox; I know what you're saying, "What? This guy has never played Halo? Shame!!", but there is just a little more to it than that.
When this game was first announced for the Xbox, I saw it and thought another fps taking up space after Half-Life, no big deal, right? Well I was wrong, it became the turning point game for Xbox, and has changed the way fps are made all together. In all of the time this game has been out, I got to witness it being played in my Intro to Game Dev class, as the teacher was demonstrating its gameplay and overall technical mastery. When watching this played, I figured out what I thought was true, this game was nothing but an average fps; sure you can hate, but this is my opinion and mine to keep. So, I didn't care about it, and just kept to my usual ways of hating on Halo.
But tonight, tonight, maybe my opinion can be changed. My roomates and I went to BlockBuster, and low and behold, do my eyes deceive me? A copy of Halo 2, on the shelves? How did this happen? With all of the hooplah over this game, I was surprised to see a rental copy on a shelf this quick. So, tonight I will try out Halo 2, the first actual Halo game for me to actually play, not just watch. Will this one change my opinion on Halo altogether, or will it simply solidfy my hate against an overrated game? Only play will tale.
My next journal entry will be my review of Halo 2 for the Xbox, pray mercy on its soul!!
Yesterday, I went to Best Buy to pick up a copy of GTA: San Andreas. After swiftly grabbing my copy, I decided to look at the other PS2 games on the rack. While looking, a Best Buy employee came up to me and saw that I had GTA. The employee then told of a deal that I couldn't pass up. The deal was that if I bought GTA: San Andreas, I could get any of the PS2 Greatest Hits games, for only $5!! Well after he told me this, I spent probably 20 minutes looking at the Greatest Hits games they had in the store. GTA III, GTA: VC, Hitman 2, Smackdown!: HCTP, Midnight Club II, Tekken 4, etc. After looking forever, I decided to get a game that was still being played by hundreds of thousands of gamers still every day online; I decided to grab SOCOM II. After having both of my games in hand, I went to the front counter and commenced to get ready to pay for the games. Looking at the monitor, I saw that he had SOCOM II at $20, I asked the guy if I got this game at $5 still. The guy looked at me and asked if a guy in a white shirt told me this, and I said yes. He shook his head and told me that this has happened already with 5 other people; the new guy (guy in white shirt) has been telling people of this deal for the past week, when the actual sale ended last week. So, to end the story, I got SOCOM II at $5, and got to listen to the Best Buy people diss the new guy.
Thanks, New Guy!!
I just started playing ESPN NFL 2K5 online for my PS2, about three days ago. Today I got the first blemish on my record because of not a loss, but because I quit. Before I am jumped about quitting during a game, I had a good reason to quit. The guy I was playing, wasn't that good, but was beating because of a good team pick (Patriots), and all he could do is run the ball with Dillion (I was playing a guy just before this who could only make plays by running with McNabb.). The reason I quit was not because I was getting beat, 28-7, its because the guy was hot-dogging on a possible TD run. The guy could have put me away for good, by just running in and making it 35-7, but no, he gets to the 1 yd line and then starts dancing; I tackled him at this point, and then proceeded to quit and sign off. Its ok if you beat me, but show some common sportsmanship; don't rub it in.
Online Experience Reviews:
NFL Street: 8/10; ESPN NFL 2K5: 7/10; SOCOM II: 7/10.
