If you can get past the fact that most games have motion controls to some extent then go for it. It's not a bad thing but some people are against flicking their wrist for some reason.

Wii 2 shouldn't even be a factor to consider, it will take around 2 years and even then the launch lineup will not be 3DS amazing. Yeah sure it will be backwards compatible but how fun is it to play 5 year old games?

Well I don't call games casual or hardcore, but I do believe that you can play games in a hardcore or casual fashion that only gamers with lots of experience and knowledge in gaming can.

I don't define hardcore by which game, or for how many hours per week someone plays. I think that's stupid because someone who has never been gaming before suddenly plays NSMBW for 8 hours a day for a week and I wouldn't call them hardcore.

I'm not saying that a hardcore gamer has to be incredibly skilled or so, it's a playstyle. I can play some Wii Party causually with friends and other times I would be playing MKWii trying to get gold on each tournament which requires you to master mechanics that a casual gamer might not even know about like shortcuts or the minor boost you get by performing stunts.

I like the term core gamers more because the term hardcore means different things depending on who you ask so I don't like using it. Like for example Metroid: Other M is a core game since it only sold 500k and the Metroid series is regarded very highly amongst, just that, core gamers. MKWii is more of a bridge title i.e. it has the depth core gamers want while at the same time being accessible to anyone. Like I said, there are no casual games, but the thing is Wii Music isn't played by what I call core gamers thus in a way you could say it is more targeted to the casual gamers because it just doesn't have that hidden depth core gamers wants.

I think it's important to distinguish gamers who follow the industry, have lots of experience and knowlegde from the 7-year old girl who only owns a DS with NSMB and Nintendogs. Not in a negative sense though, I don't see anything wrong with the latter it's just a distinction because I don't want to be associated with people who think gaming is just jumping around in Mario or something, it's way more serious to me. But I guess that mentality is slowly dying but when I was a kid the perception of gaming was something that you kill of 30 mins of your time, fool around on some levels and go on with your life but to me it's a serious passion.

Besides SMG2 I think Other M slightly edges out GoldenEye as my second fav. Don't have DKCR yet though.

I just started playing Galaxy 2 again since release and wow... it's truly the perfect game, easily up there with SMB3.

It's the same as starting with NSMBW instead of SMB for NES. It's basically the same game, but with improvements. Sure you're not going to understand everything it's a huge game, but it's very playable.

[QUOTE="johny300"]No motion controls.tomarlyn
Please god, just a normal reliable controller and lots of power like the good old days.

I can see how tacked on motion should become optional instead, there is a demand for it, but Resort and Zelda SS have proven that WM+ is relevant in gaming.

[QUOTE="Raymundo_Manuel"]

A console with good online so they can make a Pokemon MMO that dethrones World of Warcraft

Mr_BillGates

Maybe for Japan and Grade schoolers, but I doubt traditional MMO players would make a switch to a different **** game.

Traditional MMO players are irrelevant anyway, though there would be enough depth in battles for core players.

Whether or not they will make it is very hard to tell, I'm thinking that the chat filled with crap is not something Nintendo likes. It's not going to be WoW like, more family friendly-ish of course.

I would quit life it they'd make a great Pokemon MMO. I would also prefer the more relaxed nature as opposed to the competetive one in WoW.

It's Zelda SS followed closely by Portal 2, then there's a huge gap. (Not counting 3DS games, don't know enough about them)

Art direction is not something that wow's me but the fact that Guardian of Light is my favorite downloadable game makes me slightly interested.

[QUOTE="kontejner44"] I can distinguish quality from enjoyment.jethrovegas

Yes you can. Subjectively.

That's sort of how it is yeah. I think every unbiased person on SW agrees that SMG2 is the best platformer made this year. By unbiased I mean that the character has to have no impact on your decision.

Even if you're tired of Mario, or if you specifically like the SM64 approach, looking at SMG2 for what it is, it's a great game. Very few unbiased people will score it less than a 8.0.

This is not objective fact but it's evidence that points into a certain direction. Just like Pachter or VGchartz, it's a method used because it's helpfull in predicting results.

The perspective of the review should always cater to the products target audience and not reflect the reviewer's personal opinion, but as games are complext it's undeniable that there is a subjective part aswell.

Reviewers consider Trial and Error gameplay to be 'bad' and the opposite 'good'. It's an unwritten rule aka norm. The Demon Souls review clearly states this, but it has taken the perspective of "T and E is good" which is appropriate reasoning.

"The game has the established CoD FPS gameplay, which still works well" vs "I would have loved if I could run around and explore in SMG2 like I do in SM64 because it's so funz!!!! Omg they should have made moar underwater levels because I love those!!!!"

There is a huge difference in those statements. One is being objective and the other completely subjective. The first will help me in understanding how the game works and if I will like it, the second is useless, just like 90% of GS user reviews.
