I can run games well, with the exception of crysis =p, but if I could unlock a good amount of performance by removing a bottleneck, it'd be worth it. I'm just wondering how much of a bottleneck it is =/. If it's only a small one, then I'm not worriedabout it. But if I'm losing 15+ fps, then maybe I would.
According to the manual the 1st and 3rd slot and 2nd and 4th are used for dual channel (yellow yellow, black black). I've tried using both 1st/3rd and 2nd/4th but with no luck. I wonder if the motherboard itself is faulty, as I don't think it's the ram because I've tried using different kits. I would thinkthe faulty motherboard part isnot true though because I've read lots of cases where people are having compatiblity issues with dual channel and this motherboard.
How much of a performance loss do you think I'm taking using single channel? Would it be worth investing 100-150 in a new motherboard? Or should I hold off until the newer socket type is released and upgrade then?
So I've had this on going problem with my motherboard/ram (lots of people have the same problem I have with compatibility) and I can't get them working correctly in dual channel. I've followed every suggestion to getting it work but no such luck. I've set the correct timing/voltage, tried newer bios' but nothing. The computer will be stable for around 15 mins to an hour and then bsod. I can run it in single channel and it runs perfectly without crashing or anything of that like.
My question is, am I losing a huge hit in performance because I'm running it in single channel? Would it be worth purchasing a new motherboard to get rid of this problem? Or would the fps loss be low enough to not warrant a new motherboard? Thanks!
So I have $150 (would be willing to throw in a bit extra of my own money)for a christmas present for myself and I'm not sure what to get. I have all the games I want to play. Would you guys have any recommendations?
