OK - long story short as possible, in 2007 bought £2k laptop from HP, after 13 months NVIDIA graphics card fried, HP refuse to do anything without wanting a further £600 for parts and labour. Lesson learned. NEVER BUY HP.

Bought a Dell XPS M1730 in 2008 for £2k, and again NVIDIA card gives up the ghost after 17 months. This time had bought extended warranty from Dell, yay! But Dell unable to get parts for months, boo! So Dell give me a full refund. So now I'm on the market to spend around £2k on a laptop (up to a maximum of £2400, but would prefer less than £2150.) To get myself something that renders my games beautifully, at a high resolution with lots of the fancy effects turned on!! So far the only things I've found that aren't Dell or HP are Rock, and Toshiba Qosimo X500-10T (but the Tosh really didn't get me excited at all.) Figure now that things have moved on since I bought my XPS, I should be looking at Win7, 64-bit, 1GB GFX, 4-8GB RAM, and some fast disks. Any suggestions my learned friends? What would you spend your hard earned on? Cheers, Nicknmyers

well,i use an alienware m17x,cost me around $4k when i bought it with windows 7 ultimate 64bit and ati, should be in around 2500 pounds i guess..u can bring down the price by avoiding a few accessories and also going for a single card as i bought a dual ati 4870 hd..works excellent.

A few things the ps3 has the xbox hasnt just makes it seem a little less well put together and fragile. Theres no disc tray on a PS3,no blu-ray player, the menus are set out a lot better, free internet, the PSN store is easier to navigate and use, theres a hell of a lot less chance of your ps3 breaking than your xbox, the graphics, I know this is a touchy subject for most owners, but comparing the two i'd say hands down the ps3 is better. I recently found out thatPS3 games are designed for thexbox because it iseasier for developers and then ported over to the PS3, which would have an effect on graphics. Butcompare a PS3 exclusives graphics like, Uncharted 2, the graphics beat anyxbox exclusive.I could go on but you get the point.

So a non-bias comparison includes opinions? I mean I find the Xbox Marketplace easier to navigate, no need for blu-ray yet, and don't really care how my game gets in my system.

If you are going to make a non bias comparison, you may not want to show personal preferences since that is not what a NON bias comparison is about.

Well if i came on here and said, This is my comparison, everything here is fact. I'd have been shot down in flames. Comparisons all come down to opinion of the person. No need for blu-ray? What a ridiculous thing to say ofc there is, why do you think some 360 games have two disks? because the first cant hold everything... and I care how my game gets into the system, disk trays can be broken very easily.

'disk trays can be broken easily'........well,ur whole house could catch fire...earth could end 2012....

i've been thinking lately in investing in a gaming PC, and selling my 360 with some games to shore up for the components.

Reason is, in my one year anniversary in owning a 360, i only played it to complete 3 games on it. all others i have extensivley played on my PS3.

With this year, there are only 3 games that are coming on to 360 but on PS3, and those three are also gonna be on PC. Mass Effect 2, Splincer Cell Conviction, and Metro 2033.

I've got a 42 inch LCD that i can hook up the TV too.

and it will finally allow me to max out those older games i could never max out like SimCity 4, Battlefield 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

the components i'm picking up are as follows.

Ram

Graphics Card

Motherboard

CD DVD burner

Processer

500gb Harddrive

Window's 7

still looking for a stylish case to put it all in. but i was thinking of what others thought?

I should mention, my folks have a 360, and my two brothers each have their own Xbox's. so it's not like i won't ever have access to one.

guess u donno the 360 line-up for this year

being a gamer for the past 15 years,i have been part of a few generations of consoles, whereas playstation 2 gave what us gamers needed (not to forget pc),the present consoles-are they giving us what we need-enough GAMES!!!???having both the ps3 & 360 i would like to make this statement that ps3 has not offered fans what we need-games!!!ever since the launch of ps3 we r waiting for gt5,whereas we should have got gt6 by now!!!we are waiting for gow3,whereas where is gow4..??the only games worth in ps3 are a few sequels of popular ps2 games, and exclusives-how many??10 before the next gen of consoles come in??did we spent a whole generation of consoles to play a handful of games??i am not a mad fanboy or biased, but 360 has given me every week atleast a wonderful game ever since it has come 2 market..despite hardware issues in the beginning the console has proved itself with lower production values and yet greater results with some outstanding quality of games and will deliver the same till the next console comes out..i really game coz of the 360.!!

the 360 has more games, more exclusives (360 only) and according to gamespot more AAAE and AAE games

so I beg to differ

EDIT: Also, a lot of the PS3 games on your list are not "must buys"

and the same goes for the games on the 360

it's pretty obvious you chose some of those PS3 games just for variety sakes

jherbach1222

ps3 has much much much better games then 360

truth hurts, but we all know that game developers MAKE games only for the 360,the ones coming for the ps3 are just the 360 versions duplicated onto blue-ray,what the ps3 has actually are only those few exclusives and buying the ps3 is only for them and blue-ray movies..THIS IS THE FACT!!!

this generation of consoles are way past half of its life and the one simulation racer ps3 owners are waiting for is being delayed like hell..while forza 2 still rules the market and online gaming,is it coz of the wide success of forza 3 and the popularity this game has now that developers are thinking it might shadow on ps3's only big simulation title?is it fair that ps3 owners and those who dont have a 360 will get to play only a game once in a blue-moon?one simulation racer for authentic racing fans through the life of one console!!360 has bought out forza 2 and 3 already and maybe forza 4 before the next gen console comes out..
