Surely there's no need for a massive 10 page thread over this. If you play a lot online, then it's worth it for you are getting your money worth of entertainment. If you don't have the time, then it's obviously not worth it! This is life, just deal with it.

Do MS send you pre-paid boxes anymore for repair? I just got off the phone with Xbox Support and they flatly denied the option of sending me a box!!! WTF is this? What's the best way to package your console? I don't want MS to turn around and say your RROD was caused by shipping damage thus no repair etc.
Sorry to hear your Elite RRoD. Are you sure the warranty is expired? It should be 3 years from date of purchase for all RRoD (All red except for top right quadrant). Basically, all Xbox360 will eventually RRoD no matter how well you good after it, unless you never actually use it. It's an inherent design fault. The new chipsets will reduce the risk but it will RRoD eventually.Just got 1,3,4 RRoD on my Elite...really irritated. I've had it for about 2 years now so I'm sure the warranty is expired. I will be calling MS anyway.
I don't get it. I took great care to make sure the console was always clean and free of any obstructions that might overheat it. I played a few games today for a couple hours, starting with Puzzle Quest, Galatrix, then Fable 2. It froze for the first time during Fable 2 so I thought it might be the disc. I shut it down and let it "cool" even though it didn't feel hot to the touch anywhere. Tried playing again and it froze after a few minutes. Rebooted, thinking it was the disc and started playing Galatrix- froze again. I left it alone for about three hours (plenty of time to cool), tried booting it up and got the RRoD right away.
The only thing I haven't checked is the power supply. Either way, this is really irritating.

I hear you, my Elite (Falcon) just got RRoD yesterday evening after 18 months of limited usage (about 3 hours per week). It's comforting to know I can get it repaired under the warranty but I'm now thinking what will happen once MS stop supporting the X360?!!! On another note, can anybody tell me whether I have to include the harddrive when sending off the console for repairs? I know you don't include any games, controllers, or memory cards. I don't want to risk losing all my saved games etc.I can't believe this but my Elite got the 3 red lights and I have never abused it, It has never fell or even really ever got hott. I have always kept it wiped off and Very Well ventilated and my son was playing Halo 3 and it did it yesterday. So when I turn it on now it just comes on for a second to xbox picture and then freezes and goes to RROD. And you know what it SUCKS! I have all 3 systems and the DSI and I now I Have to send it in. It will be 3 weeks before I get it back. But anyway I just needed to vent that and thanks for hearing me, As I said though I take EXCELLENT care of my platforms and it still happened to me. I am now worried about my PS3 and the Yellow Light of Death. If that brakes that will be expensive!
Take Care everybody!

A very valid point! But this is SW and without this sort of 'easy to impress' attitude, how can we claim sweet sweet ownage when the hyped games flops?! Personally, I think this game has real potential to be something special, the fact it isn't a FPS or involves running and gunning is already a plus in my opinion.I think people are too easily impressed to be frank.
People were praising the animations in the previous thread when the game footage was clearly not game play, allowing the developers complete control over the scene. People were lining up to say they will buy the game, declaring it AAA, when they knew next to nothing about it.
The people of system war act like they have standards, but the moment they sniff a interesting looking exclusive they crank up the hype machine. Frankly I think the creature was the only impressive looking thing in the video.

Surely the fundamental difference comes down to this: for PC gaming, upgrading will not only boost the performance but it MAY also be essential to play the games you want to play. If we have to compare this to consoles, then the closest thing should be buying the next gen console. Console accessories may enhance your experience of the games but will never be essential for them.
If you spent $2000 on a PC it will max crysis now and when crysis 2 is released you may be able to run it at a lower resolution but what about crysis 3? Eventually you'll need to upgrade, not for that performance boost, but simply to get the game to run as the developers cease to optimise the game to run on your PC due to progress of technology. Buying a more advanced gaming mouse, or headset is not going to change that. With the PS3/X360 you bought for $500-600 at launch, it will ensure closed hardware and developers are forced to optimise the games for it. When the next gen of consoles with better technology arrives, console gamers will then have to UPGRADE to the new consoles to continue enjoying the latest games. The only difference between PC upgrades and console upgrades is that for the PC it can be more gradual, although if you haven't changed any parts of your 6 year old PC, you pretty much need to upgrade everything inside the case anyway making it no different from upgrading from a PS2 to PS3.

1. Yes, it's aweful. Especially with the number of quality RTS that have came out in the past year, and will be coming out in the next few months.
2. What? There have been FPSs before and after Halo. You claim Halo is the reason we have so many FPSs today? That's a nutty statement.
Halo innovating... please. Like what?
Bottom line. The Halo franchise is said to push the envelope... when it's not. However, such statements undermine quality.

I'm talking about FPS's on consoles. Plus so many games use the recharge health system, and the 2 weapon system. What's your gamertag by the way?
I know you are talking about the FPS, but I would hate to break it to you, but recharging shields and dual wielding didn't come out when Halo did. ESPECIALLY dual wielding. That said, I'm not giving you my gamertag on a public forum. A game doesn't have to be the first game to do something in order be recognised. Halo brought all these features together and implemented them with a smooth and intuitive control scheme. Now, all console FPS are compared against Halo as a gold standard. Without Halo, console FPS will not be what it is today, and you can forget about Killzone 2. Now with Halo Wars, it is trying to reinvent the RTS genre for consoles in terms of gameplay and control. I think Ensemble and MS should be applauded for their efforts. Of course if was not spectacular and I think you will find the review scores reflect that, nevertheless most people agree it is one of the best/most playable console RTS available. Now I don't understand why any of the above is killing gaming? If anything, games like Rockband/Guitar Hero are doing more harm to gaming than Halo.
