so 1080 doesn't matter on a 32, possibly 37? either way i'm guessing most will come with that feature since it seems so many do now

This is the one I have in my Man-cave (fiance stole my 46 inch tv and has it in the living room somehow, don't know how that happened).
Anyways, here's the TV: Panasonic Viera 32 inch, $449. Picture is amazingly crisp using HDMI (I a 2 dollar HDMI cable off of Amazon.com). Price is great too since this is basically Panasonic's top end brand (like Sharp's Aquos). I paid $550 for it a few months ago and was very happy to pay that.

Hmm that sounds pretty good. Also Sharp is always used with Xbox 360 like at E3 and other events so I guess that's worth noting.
And is HDMI really better than standard HD component cables?
Hmm I never knew that about the first 100 hours thing. Anyway I'm going to Sears, maybe Walmart, this weekend so maybe then I can comment/ask about some of the ones I see.Burn in is really a thing of the past at this point. Just make sure not to set the tv to the brightest setting for the first 100 hours, and that should prevent any burn in. I have 2 panasonic plasma sets and they have never had burn in, trust me once you see how good your picture looks you'll never think twice. Especially if you thought it looked good on a DLP

oh, and TC, the tv models are
Panasonic - 42x1
Samsung - 42b450
If you have any question ask here or PM me, I sell tv's for a living.crazywayne287
oh sweet. well my only concern is that i've always heard plasmas are not ideal for gaming because they're suspectibility to burn-ins is higher than LCDs.
my little 24in LG LCD has always provided a pretty nice picture but other than that i've played on a large DLP (which is great, the picture is amazing although the rainbow effect can be a little annoying) and then a large plasma (the colors, texture were amazing here but i'm always so afraid of burn-ins so i rarely play on it. one time the interface of hitman burnt slightly into the screen although that may have been because i would pause the game, turn the tv off, and then come back a little later.)
but yeah those two TVs are TVs we have at home so the one i'm looking to get would be to keep up at school. someone right next door to me recently got a $600 samsung from walmart (i think its a LCD) and the picture looks pretty nice.
Hmm the vizio got an excellent review here:

Also my 360 does not have HDMI although it'd be nice to have that feature for the future.
Should I be concerned with 1080? I always thought it didn't really matter and that in some cases 720 was better. I always thought that you can't even really tell a difference either.
Yeah I've always been a little reluctant towards off-brand televisions, but I'm pretty sure my one friend has a Sanyo or something and the picture is very nice. Anyway the LG seems very attractive. I'm going to go to Sears this weekend to actually look at some in person.
Hey guys, so I'm really trying to narrow it down at this point.
And here's what it's comes down to:

The only thing about the plasma is that it's only 720 and I've always heard/been told that they're not ideal for gaming (although that particular model says there's a feature built in for gaming).
In all honesty I'm leaning towards the Samsung (although some reviewers have said the sound quality isn't too great). The kid across the hall swears he got this TV, a 40" Samsung, for $600 but the cheapest I can find it anywhere is for $800.
I'm kind of leaning towards the Toshiba since it is a name brand, but didn't know if I would really be compromising on gaming since it has a slightly older card.
I want to be able to play Half Life 2, HL2 EP1 + EP2, Oblivion, and other DirectX 9 games at their highest settings smoothly.
So which laptop should I buy? Is the Go 7950 GTX really all that better or can I live fine with what I want to do with the Go 7900 GTX.
Thanks.
Also which is better for gaming glossy cover OR non-glossy covers?
bumolarry45haha, sorry i meant bump and sorry i forgot to put this in the vista thread
