I really hated Oblivion because no matter how I played it, my character always felt underpowered to the point where any remotely difficult dungeon would be impossible to get through. Maybe it was the levelling system.

Anyways, Fallout 3 is my favorite game this generation and the only game I've bothered going after the Platinum trophy for. You will find some periodic glitching here and there, but nothing game breaking. The biggest problems are found when loading the DLC. I've invested hundreds of hours into the game and have only had it crash no more than 3 times on me. Make sure you save every half hour or so in addition to the auto save and you should be fine.

I would recommend getting the GOTY Edition of the game as it offers about 100 more hours of gameplay. Partially because of the level cap raise to 30 and because there are SO many sidequests to do. At the very least download Broken Steel (an absolute must) and download Point Lookout. Those 2 DLC are well worth the $10 price attached to each of them.
