You really got an oven inside your computer.

The radeon 4850 temps are way to high. My radeon 4850 does not get past 72-73c with some overclock on full load which is the right level for the card.

As four your q6600 i dont know, temps are high but if its belower 70c its still safe, but the lifespan might be reduced significatly.

I was a real quicksave-aholic. I remember playing kotor, different rts, hl2, doom3 quicksaving every 20 seconds after i killed a an single enemie, or get trough a new door. Then when i got farcry which did not had quick save, it became very frustrating and took me a while to get used to.

I still quick save very often, but im learning to control it. I almost screwed my mass effect playtrough when i quick saved on a timed mission with less than a minute and still plenty to do.

I have recently upgraded from a old 19" monitor to a new acer 22" widescreen monitor for my new computer.

Gaming at 1680x1050 from 1280x1024 is a totally new experience. It feels really good and natural when playing games, now when i go back and see some games running on lower resolutions on others computer it feels so small and poor. Stepping to a monitor capable of 1920x1080 looks tempting, but my radeon 4850 will start to struggle on it, especially on newer games at top settings

I know how it feels.

My old pentium D 3.0 had those exact same temps, even with an aftermarket cooler!

Summer does not helps, the room and temperature has an important influence on the cpu temps, it can vary as much as 10c.

My suggestion: Get a small bedroom fan, open your case and put that thing blowing air directly to all the computer.. Youll'se results while gaming

It is interesting, Amd is a very good brand that makes impressive stuff for an even impressive price. I purchased very recently a combo consisting of a PII 720, radeon 4850, 4gb ram... And the perfomance im getting while gaming on a 22'' screen, ultra fast windows navigation with 15+ stuff open at the same time, etc can't be beaten by anything for that price., Thats where amd shines. Ive come from a pentium D build and im still having strains on how bad it was. Like some say, This cpu might not be worth it because you can buy with ease the 955 or lower and overclock it to same speeds. But it shows amd its doing their stuff. Intel its a very solid product to, it costs more and sometimes the price can't be justified in some apps, but if you have the money, dont care and want the fastest thats out there..get an i7.
