I get you. I don't like the default rules either. Go ahead and get some friend codes from the forum. Then you'll be able to make the matches stock. I prefer stock too. you could even get my friend code and we'll have some matches. I have plenty of friends that could join.
Don't give up on the Wii. The problem will be fixed before long.

It sounds like your problems are with dumb people online. Sure they should have gave us more options, but how can you blame the system for stupid people online. XBOX Live wasn't prefect for a long time, this is NINTENDO's first couple online games so cut them some slack.ziproy
nintendo has been making online games since 2004...they've had plenty of time.
why would you give up on wii before the biggest online game comes out: Mario kart!!! it's going to be sick!! but brawls online isnt that great if ur not playing against friendsandrewham7
Brawl was supposed to be nintendo's biggest online game...I doubt Mario Kart will be any better.
Have you ever played Smash Bros. in the past? Seriously! 4 ppl in an arena fighting for their lives, that's what it's all about. Not who gets the most kills. It's not Halo! Get some friend codes from the thread that's in the forum and maybe you can just stick with one on one matches, since you want all the kills. Or maybe you can do team battles so it's not as chaotic for you. Two vs. two seems better than a free for all.-Sole-
Yes, I've played smash bros. before. Yes that is what it is about but it's also about the glory of being one of the best players. I know it crazy and chaotic but I never play with the 2 minute limitations because the best player never wins. I never used to keep track of kill and deaths until I played online. Stock is really the only way to play smashd and that is why I am dumfounded nintendo set a default of two minutes instead of 3 stock for brawl.
