You guys have a point. Because when you create a new Steam account it asks for an account name and password. It says be sure to make your password something hard to guess, but it does not say that for the account name.

So when you try Steam for the first time, seeing what that message says you just think well... I'll choose my name or the name of my favourite film, something simple.

So if your name is Steven then you might set that as your account name and also use that as your nickname in Steam games like Left 4 Dead or Team Fortress 2. If anyone in-game sees that then they might wonder if that's your account name, and they might be right or wrong, but it doesn't matter, because they'll never guess your password as long as it's strong.

I know you say that people aren't sitting around trying to guess your account name and password, but as you know there are exceptions to rules and the exception this time being that they may have found out your account name from your nickname, but they won't guess your password.

I won't have to worry about lookalike sites because I enter my personal information via the Steam program shortcut on my desktop.

Thanks for the help guys.

I know I can change my password and email address, but can I change my account name? (I'm not talking about the nickname you have in-game).

The reason I ask is because I wanted to change it to something stronger for security reasons.

Also, if someone guesses your Steam account name, is it really a big deal? As long as you have a strong password then you should be ok?

I just don't understand how liquidzero can be getting from 300-150KBs I guess he is in CA or because he should be getting similar results in Northeast if that is where he is located.

CA? I think that stands for California. No, I've never been to the US, I live in the UK and this is the location where I download from Steam.

Left 4 Dead without a shadow of a doubt. The gameplay is fun and once you've had a good few hours session and go to sleep, you'll probably crave the gameplay the next day again. It has to be online play though because the single player is boring.

Did you run BF2 as admin by right-clicking the game's shortcut and selecting "run as administrator"? I read your whole post but I'm just checking, because you should be ok if you run as admin. Remember and enable Punkbuster.

I'm testing it now and I'm at 20% download completion and am getting anything from 300kb/s to 150kb/s which is slow for me because I usually get between 1.5mb/s to 2mb/s. Maybe Steam is just very busy at the moment or their might be a problem with their network.

Yeah he could be dead. He could be alive and he could be dead, he could be inside each of us or he might not have ever existed. It could be anything.
